    POSITION SUMMARY:  

    The Graduate Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting with graduate admissions, recruitment and marketing; meeting and corresponding with prospective and admitted students; attending events to recruiting new students for programs; compiling and reviewing applications for submission to departments for decision; and communicating with faculty to manage an incoming class of graduate students

    The Graduate Admissions Counselor reports to the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and is a member of the Admissions team within the department of Enrollment Management.  

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Demonstrate an attitude and behavior that reflects the values and mission of the department and University.

    Represent the university in all aspects of the recruitment process to identify and attract quality students.

    • Serves as primary information source and contact for prospective graduate students providing a high level of personalized service to inquiries and applicants; educates prospective graduate students about admission policies and procedures.
    • Serves as a representative of the university by making presentations on and off campus at a variety of functions, conferences, workshops, etc.
    • Assists in the development of process work flow to determine best practice for maximum productivity in the area of graduate admissions processing; utilizes reports and technology to evaluate and create ways to maximize productivity.
    • Monitors graduate admissions communication (social media, website, email, letters, etc.), provides input into the development of graduate admissions materials; works with Enrollment Operations and Marketing to ensure accurate communication with prospective and admitted students.
    • Assist with creation and implementation of marketing plan, including but not limited to researching potential markets, development of marketing materials and updating website content.

    Ensure the integrity of the evaluation and admissions process.

    • Reviews and assesses academic credentials to determine eligibility for graduate programs; compiles application documents using EnrollmentRx and Banner; provides completed applications to departments/faculty for admissions decisions; continuously reviews open files to facilitate completion.
    • Creates and maintains all graduate admissions files; updates all student information in appropriate databases; maintains accuracy and integrity of all graduate admissions databases and student files

    Support Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Management standards, goals, projects, and initiatives.

    • Maintain professional office hours during the day, and when appropriate, evenings and weekends to maximize personal communication with students, parents, and counselors.
    • Coordinates communication between faculty/administrators of graduate programs and prospective students to provide information about academic programs, admissions requirements and deadlines, application status, etc.
    • Communicate with Registrar Student Affairs, Student Financial Services and other departments on behalf of prospective and admitted students.
    • Participate in short range departmental planning by offering recommendations for departmental functions and goals.
    • Anticipate and investigate competitive products and services and make recommendations to distinguish OCU from the competitive marketplace.
    • Carries out day to day assignments that affect university enrollment goals.

    Other duties as assigned.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery.
    • Constantly visually identifies, observes, and assesses.
    • Frequently communicates with university constituents.
    • Frequently remains in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting). Occasionally moves to accomplish tasks and/or to get from one worksite to another.
    • Occasionally moves common office materials.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    1. At the discretion of the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and Senior Director of Admissions, the incumbent’s regular work schedule may include partial remote work excepting the recruitment season (August through November). Remote work is covered by the university’s remote work/telework policy.
    2. Work is primarily indoors, but at times may be required to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus.
    3. Will be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines. Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; some overtime may be required.
    4. Off-campus, state and regional travel may be required.

      

    The anticipated monthly salary for this position is $2,964.00.

    Required Experience

    A bachelor's degree and demonstrated successful work experience in recruitment, marketing, and/or sales is required.
