    BU Wheelock is seeking a Human Resources Administrator (HRA) to join the Administration and Finance team. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance, the HRA will support the colleges human resources needs across all employee groups (faculty, staff, and researchers). The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with exceptional communication skills and the ability to advise staff, faculty, and researchers on human resource, institutional policy, and organizational matters. They should demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy, and creativity, with a passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

    The ability to navigate sensitive matters with discretion, juggle multiple projects, and oversee complex issues from inception to resolution are essential to the role. The HRA will be cross trained in payroll operations and matters pertaining to departmental administration. As a member of a dynamic, cross-functional team, they will provide coverage for payroll and administrative functions as needed.

    This is a full-time position with access to the University's comprehensive staff benefits plan.

    The HRA will maintain a 3/2 hybrid work modality and will have an office at Boston University's Charles River Campus.

    Essential Functions:

    • Oversee new hires and terminations for all staff, faculty, research and temporary workers. Create new positions, process terminations, partner with BU Human Resources to evaluate current and new positions.
    • Implement faculty actions including but not limited to implementation of new appointments, retirements, promotions, salary adjustments, and leave requests.
    • Serve as the college's liaison with Human Resources on sensitive personnel issues, organizational development initiatives, and labor relations matters. Provide guidance to supervisors and department directors on the design and creation of new positions, personnel matters, and labor relations compliance.
    • Manage the performance evaluation process for represented and non-represented staff.
    • Partner with HR's Organizational Development and Learning Office and Wheelock leadership to develop opportunities for continuous learning and development for Wheelock staff.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Three years relevant experience.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to advise faculty and staff regarding HR, organizational, and administrative matters.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Professionalism, diplomacy, creativity, and enthusiasm.
    • Supervisory Experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior BU experience
    • Knowledge of payroll systems and processes
    • Knowledge of procurement systems and processes
    • Prior experience with Boston University's software stack including but not limited to SAP, Ariba, and Concur.
