    OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:

    We are seeking a part-time (25%) teacher to join our World Languages Department, where they will instruct a Korean level 1 course. Marlborough’s World Language courses emphasize the development of linguistic proficiency, cultural competence, and global awareness. Teachers collaborate as part of a team to ensure a consistent and engaging language-learning experience for students. The World Languages Department prioritizes authentic communication through an immersive learning environment and the exploration of diverse cultural perspectives. The goal is to enable students to attain increasingly higher levels of proficiency as measured by the national standards set forth by the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Beyond classroom teaching, this position offers the opportunity to be an active participant in the dynamic Marlborough community, engaging in various aspects of school life.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teach one section of Korean 1.

    Plan, prepare, and deliver academically sophisticated and pedagogically engaging lessons for the appropriate developmental level and course designation.

    Collaborate with fellow World Languages faculty in teacher teams, contributing to lesson preparation as needed.

    Update scope and sequence documents periodically to reflect any changes to the curriculum.

    Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators.

    Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations.

    Participate in grade-level and school activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Korean is preferred.

    A minimum of 2 years of proven success teaching Korean at the secondary level, preferably in an immersion classroom (a 90/10 model).

    Demonstrates confidence in their subject matter and pedagogical expertise, while staying dedicated to ongoing professional development and innovation in both areas.

    Thrive in collaborative environments and excel at designing and executing curriculum as a member of a teaching team.

    Proficient in the Google Suite and education technology tools that are geared towards language learning.

    Possess an interest, enthusiasm for, and commitment to, teaching middle school students in addition to high school students.

    Has a passion for supporting the developmental needs of teenagers, with the ability to balance high expectations with a high level of support.
