    Part-Time Athletic Trainer (60% Time)

    OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT

    Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Part-Time Athletic Trainer supports and works alongside the Head Athletic Trainer to provide injury prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation for athletic injuries and illnesses. Part-time position (60% Time).

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    ● Attends athletic events and practices which require flexible work hours.

    ● Provides education and information for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes and coaches.

    ● Administers preventive or rehabilitative treatment to athletes engaged in various school sports. ● Establishes and maintains accurate records of athletes for eligibility based on physical examinations as well as reports concerning accidents, injuries, treatments, and physician referrals.

    ● Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training facility.

    ● Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments in daily treatment log and Magnus Health.

    ● Follow/Manage Concussion Protocols established by CIF and Marlborough and ensure timely proper communication to appropriate parties.

    ● Follows all CIF Policies pertaining to environmental conditions: Air Quality, WBGT, Lightning

    ● Maintain communication with parents on the care and treatment of their student-athlete.

    ● Equips each team with appropriate medical supplies.

    ● Assist in creating a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks and hazards.

    ● Promotes the school’s mission, philosophy, and vision

    ● Advances the school’s professional image

    ● Maintains open/effective communication

    ● Tracks all required coaching certifications - CPR, First Aid, AED, etc.

    ● Provides CPR/First Aid classes for coaching staff seasonally.

    ● Follows-up with coaches to complete appropriate reports for all accidents and files reports with appropriate offices.

    ● Works collaboratively with the Athletic Director, Head Athletic Trainer and coaches in providing technical services and information for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.

    ● Analyze situations accurately in order to take an effective course of action and to administer first aid and injury management as needed.

    ● Understand and utilize various modalities used in athletic therapy and treatment and follow standing orders issued by physicians.

    ● Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Upper School Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    ● NATA-BOC certified, CPR/AED and First Aid certified, CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor. Master’s degree preferred.

    ● Minimum of 2 years experience working with college or high school student-athletes

    ● Flexibility is required to meet needs of changing athletic schedule

    ● Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate clearly and effectively in a variety of situations with athletes, parents, and coaches, in writing and orally.

    ● Proven ability to maintain accurate detailed records and confidentiality

    ● Proven ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team

    ● Advanced computer skills including document/memo preparation, spreadsheets, and presentations

    ● Expected knowledge in the following areas: Principles of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and nutrition; Emergency medical procedures; Expertise in physical fitness and in safety procedures and equipment related to athletic programs.

    COMPENSATION

    ● This is a 60% time position. The competitive hourly rate ranges from $35 to $45/hour.
