Provide primary health care to students in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Student Health Center Director and Collaborative Physician. Provide cross-campus collaboration and consultation as needed. Serve as the primary liaison between the Student Health Center and Athletics Department working with Athletic Trainers and coaches as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Education: Masters degree Academic areas or major: Masters of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner Schedule: Full-time/12 month employee Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience Specific type of experience required: Experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Familiar with disorders of ear, eye, nose, throat, dermatology, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiology, respiratory, gynecology, urology, rheumatology, endocrinology and orthopedics. Supervisory/managerial experience required: Department management Required licenses or certifications: Licensed by State of Virginia as 1) Registered Nurse, 2) Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, 3) Licensed to prescribe medication. 4) DEA Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by including American Nurses Credentialing Center and CPR certified. Special knowledge: Familiar with Word, and awareness of electronic medical records. Interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in the use of medical equipment such as: needles/syringes, glucose testing equipment; nebulizer, pulse oximetry, thermometer, blood presure cuff, miltex ear syringe, Otoscope, Ophthalmoscope, forceps/tweezers, Stethescope, peak flow meter, and gooseneck lamp used to illuminate body part for optimal visualization. Also how to utilize CLIA -Approved and employ waived laboratory testing equipment and how to initiate testing for beta strep; pregnancy,influenza, urinalysis, using hospital based testing equipment. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, and other comparable procedures.
