The Systems Administrator position presupposes strong analytical skills, understanding of technology infrastructure, ability to analyze and interpret information, and ability to work with cross-functional teams and to communicate with various constituencies. Overall, the Systems Administrator will support cutting-edge high-performance computing (HPC) cluster and modern cloud infrastructure systems. The School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS) is building technology infrastructure that offers a multitude of high-touch, value-added, turnkey solutions that span Cloud Computing, Compliance, Cybersecurity, Big Data, Analytics and Data Science in medical and non-medical areas. The Systems Administrator will install, support, and maintain IT systems that support these solutions. The Systems Administrator will also ensure that all non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security, usability, etc.) are met.
- Install and maintain Meharry high-performance computing (HPC) cluster, Azure Cloud, applications, and authentication server(s)
- Maintain IT system infrastructure documentation and ensure backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored.
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on both inhouse and hosted computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with Meharry’s needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage Meharry’s HPC software systems, servers, and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications.
- Work closely with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to expand the capability and performance of IT system processes and configurations for a Supercomputer and Azure cloud.
- Provide technical support in all areas, including security, business partner coordination, IT asset maintenance, and Active Directory identity management.
- Includes all aspects of computer systems, networking, security and application programming for building the infrastructure needed to support the program and defining processes to implement and maintain systems.
- Responsible for making technical recommendations related to computing hardware, network components (switches, routers, etc.), operating systems and software architectures.
- General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
- Contribute to development and management of a disaster recovery plan for systems as well as data recovery plan.

Required Skills
- Exhibit technical mastery of system internals, network security, database and operating systems, emerging cluster computing technologies and architectures and the interrelationship of all.
- Experience in cross-platform OS and application integration (Linux/Windows). Operational knowledge of office365 administration, LINUX, and Windows Server operating systems. Office 365 support/admin experience (Office, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
- Experience and/or working knowledge of regulations, systems management protocols and compliant requirements including expertise designing and implementing controls compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and NIST Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Working experience of network and routing protocols.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certifications (MCSA, MCITP, MCSE, etc.), Information Assurance Technician (IAT)/Information Assurance Manager (IAM) (CISSP, CASP, Security+CE, CCNA-Security, SSCP, etc.) are desired/preferred.
- At least 4 years of Linux system administration experience using the command line; experience with RHEL/CentOS is a plus
- Advanced experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration. Advanced programming and/or scripting skills in Python or Perl, Ruby, Java and PowerShell scripting languages.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure and or AWS platforms. Working knowledge of: Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune Administration • Windows Server 2008 R2 and up SQL Server 2012 and up • Azure and AWS cloud platforms • HIPAA IT regulatory requirements

Required Experience
