Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Mobilization, the Mobilization Coordinator is a full-time, 30-hour/week employee with the Office of Service and Discipleship. This person plays a key role in logistically mobilizing students toward service opportunities, both locally and globally, as well as assisting in the facilitation of the student’s short-term service experience as well as coordinating logistics for both ongoing and local engagement service experiences. This position will also oversee the development of selected student service leaders connected to student learning outcomes and university values.

Required Education

• Associate degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.

Required Experience

• Two to three years of experience in client services and administrative functions, university setting preferred.
• Committed to the Christian faith.
• Commitment to the Azusa Pacific University mission and core values.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

General Local Engagement Responsibilities

• * Supervise undergraduate student coordinators charged with facilitating local service opportunities for fellow undergraduate students.
  

  • Meet occasionally with students to encourage increased professional and personal growth.
  • Assist in coordination efforts to mobilize undergraduate students to serve in local organizations in Azusa, San Gabriel Valley, and the greater Los Angeles area, according to departmental missiological philosophies.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with local service providers in an effort to provide ongoing service opportunities for undergraduate students.
  • Work in collaboration with local service providers and other on-campus departments to facilitate one-time service opportunities.
  • Create events and programs that connect students to local service opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Associate Director to represent Local Engagement in the overall marketing strategy of the Office of Service and Discipleship.
  • Develop consistent communication with student volunteers that promotes increased involvement and awareness of local service opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Spiritual Life Administration and Operations team to coordinate the administration of the University Service Credit Requirement and logistics relating to it.

General Global Engagement Responsibilities

• * Mobilize students to serve through Short-Term Service opportunities.
  

  • Work collaboratively with the Director and Associate Director to recruit students to participate in short-term service trips.
  • Develop and foster ongoing relationships with ministry hosts and sending organizations, according to departmental missiological philosophies.
  • Assist the Associate Director, Director, and Spiritual Life Administration team in the operations and logistics of mobilizing students including (a) the streamlined registration process for all global engagement teams, (b) logistics for teams including processing of participants, and (c) development of
  • standard operating procedures and office policies.
  • Assist in the coordination of the pre-field experience for students.
  • Collaborate with the Association Director and Director to recruit, coordinate, and place student teams for short-term experience.
  • Select, train, and develop a group of team leaders.
  • Coordinate team placement process.
  • Assist in facilitating a re-entry program for all students who participated.
  • Serve as an on-call person for the Global Engagement Team Emergency Response Phone.
  • Maintain a valid passport throughout the term of employment and be available to occasionally travel to visit teams on-site.
  • Work in collaboration with the Spiritual Life Administration Team to provide accurate and timely information regarding logistics and finance to team participants and team leaders.
  • Provide support for the professional staff in making travel arrangements, preparing expense reports, and coordinating with facility and food service departments for meetings and events.

General Spiritual Life Responsibilities

• * An overall availability to help with shared responsibility of the mission of the Spiritual Life department (parent panels, orientation events, etc.).
  

  • Provides occasional training and support related to spiritual care for other APU programs as directed.
  • Serve in a collateral assignment within Student Belonging.
  • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Skills

• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft products to complete tasks, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.

• Must be able to climb stairs multiple times in a workday.
• Must be able to maintain a valid U.S. passport and be able to travel nationally or internationally.

Technologies

• Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
• Understanding and experience with File Maker Pro a plus.

Compensation

• Grade 7: $19.49 to $22.41 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
