    Job Description

    This is a grant funded internship tied to 563 hours of work compensated at the Minneapolis minimum wage rate. This individual is anticipated to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, however hours per week may vary depending on business need.

    Summary of Position: The Residence Life Outreach Coordinator Graduate Assistant is responsible for supporting the well-being of residential students on campus. Working with Residence Life, the Center for Wellness and Counseling, the Dean of Students Office, and other campus, partners this position will help support wellness programming and training, market support resources, and aid in supporting students referred to the University’s Student Care Team.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Auggie Well-Being key personnel and Augsburg’s Wellness Living and Learning Community to develop, coordinate, and expand sustainable mental wellness, suicide prevention, and substance use prevention outreach and engagement strategies across campus.
    • Assist with Residence Life support and coordination of services for community members referred to CARE Team due to mental health and/or academic concerns.
    • In collaboration with Center for Wellness and Counseling (CWC) Director, coordinate CWC mental health events such as Sound Healing, Auggie Doggie Days, yoga, etc., and promote events using flyers, communication with community advisors, and social media.
    • Develop and promote in collaboration with key grant personnel proposed educational seminars, educational materials, poster campaigns, Naloxone training, culturally relevant programming such as the Healing Fair, and student organization-led wellness-related programming.
    • Create with CWC and disseminate educational and promotional materials to educate students, families, faculty, and staff on mental wellness, mental health challenges, suicide prevention, how to respond to a person in crisis, the dangers of substance use such as alcohol and Fentanyl, and available resources.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Typical work environment is an office.
    • Sedentary work for long periods of time.
    • Regular computer and phone use.
    • Working irregular hours; night and weekend duties as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • Qualified candidates must be enrolled in one of the following Graduate Programs, Masters in Education, Social Work, Leadership, Counseling, or related field. (Candidates do not need to be enrolled at the time of application but will need to be accepted and enrolled by the start of the internship in order to be considered).

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proficiency using MS Office software or comparable software applications.
    • Previous experience with Student Life and/or Student Support Services programming in higher education.
