    Job Description:

    The Program Director, Business Ventures will coordinate programs for student entrepreneurs moving their ideas for start-up businesses from conception to launch.

    Responsibilities will include running and managing the operations of programs including creating relevant support technology processes, facilitating workshops, coordinating mentoring programs and support for interested students. This individual will also support other programs associated with Innovate@BU and model the team's values.

    Essential Functions:

    Programmatic (70%):

    • Own and deliver existing Innovate@BU business start-up activities and programs, incorporating concepts and frameworks that also support social entrepreneurship as suggested by the Project Director, Social Entrepreneurship.
    • Facilitate workshops on a variety of topics, including: topics such as customer discovery, idea validation, developing business models, and more.
    • Organize workshops and other talks/presentations/short courses on business start-ups.
    • Conduct 1:1 office hours with students
    • Teach one / two hour classes on the subject when requested by BU faculty.
    • Identify other existing programs on campus and support, strengthen, and nurture those efforts.
    • Work to develop new programs in conjunction with the Executive Director.
    • Extend the reach of existing programs to all parts of Boston University.
    • Work with outside partners when appropriate.

    Administrative Oversight (15%)

    • Work in conjunction with Director, Operations in the development and management of program budgets.
    • Develop and maintain databases to generate specialized reports on program progress and outcomes. including student usage.
    • Hire and supervise interns and student employees as appropriate.

    Communications (15%)

    • Working in collaboration with marketing & communications colleagues, ensure the timely production and dissemination of important communications related to business start-up programs.
    • Communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, including student groups at the university, to help further Innovate@BU’s mission.
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure successful and high quality delivery of programs.

    Position Requirements

    • MBA or other graduate degree or equivalent relevant experience
    • A minimum of 5 years' business experience, preferably in program management
    • Proven interest and experience in innovation and entrepreneurship
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Experience with or mastery of standard technology products, and proven aptitude to learn new technology quickly
    • A self-starter who is driven, collaborative, and comfortable with change, fast-paced work, ambiguity, and experimentation
    • First-hand entrepreneurial or startup experience is highly desired
