The supervision and managerial direction necessary to assure that all aspects of grounds, landscaping, pest management, storm water, solid waste and hazardous material management are developed and executed efficiently and effectively assuring campus ambience consistent with University objectives; Assist the Associate Vice President – Facilities Management on matters pertaining to the campus master plan, grant development and special studies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in the development and implementation of the Campus Master Plan and conducts and/or oversees relevant studies consistent with the Master Plan objectives
- Participates in special projects as assigned such as new construction planning, environmental, parking, water management, etc.
- Assures the development and execution of a comprehensive Waste Management program including, but not necessarily limited to, compactors, relevant vendor contracts and trash recycling strategies
- Assures appropriate scheduling of personnel and the coordination of services both inter and intra-departmentally
- Prepares division Annual Plan, executes same as approved and manages division within budgetary constraints
- Assures periodic and appropriate training for all subordinate personnel
- Prepares specifications for bids related to material, equipment and contractor services
- Conducts performance appraisals of subordinates, recommends compensation adjustments based on performance and approves all vacation requests and leaves of absences
- Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned
- Keeps the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management and other constituencies informed in a timely manner of matters pertaining to divisions operations
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree

Required Experience
- College graduate with a minimum of five (5) years managerial experience with strong emphasis on design, site development and all phases of landscape construction and grounds maintenance
- A strong working knowledge of Florida plant materials, growth habits, fertilization and water programs
- A degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university is highly desired and preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous substances, handling and waste disposal regulations required
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
