We are currently seeking a part-time, face-to-face HSE/GED Math or Language Instructor who will teach students the necessary skills and knowledge for successful completion of the GED math or language examination, using a pre-developed curriculum.
Work is dependent on student enrollments, but will not exceed 20 hours per week.
Work performance also requires completion and maintenance of Texas Workforce Commission Adult Education and Literacy qualifications and professional development. AEL qualifications must be completed before working with students.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
· Required: Bachelor’s Degree
· Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mathematics or Language
EXPERIENCE:
· Required: Prior teaching experience plus computer skills
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
· Teach one or more math or language GED course/s.
· Develop positive working relationships with students.
· Foster community.
· Monitor student progress regularly.
· Prepare and facilitate high engagement learning activities.
· Use effective retention strategies in order to maintain students.
· Ensure students are administered the approved pre and post assessments.
· Guide students regarding how to obtain their GED (if needed), transition into college, and obtain employment to earn a living wage.
· Work with other instructors and professionals to support individual students needs and progress.
· Attend staff meetings and in-service training, as required.
· Be sensitive to diverse cultural differences within the classroom.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of adult basic education math or language content.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
· Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term goals
· Strong administrative and organizational skills.
· Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures and ability to deliver excellent customer service.
· Ability to work with educational technologies, such as Zoom and Microsoft Office
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, frequently lift, carry, push, pull and maneuver office supplies as needed.
Schedule: The schedule will be based on the applicant's availability.
Work Environment: This position is located Pampa and operates in a professional environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Zoom, and various other educational applications.
Travel Expectations: Some travel may be required for this position.
Salary: $20 per hour per grant cap
