    EF International Language Campuses in San Diego is looking for some talented and exceptional individuals to join its team of Resident Advisors! We seek motivated, responsible, dynamic, and community-building individuals to take on the exciting challenge of working in an international environment. Previous experience as a Resident Advisor is always a plus, but it is not required!

    About the School:

    EF San Diego is one of many international language schools that accepts students from all over the world to live in an amazing city and learn English. Located in Point Loma, this campus holds about 700 students in the residence in addition to our students who stay with host families.

    About the Position:

    As a RA at EF, you have the amazing opportunity to work with a highly diverse and international student population (ages 16+) and a high-energy staff. RAs will work around 20 - 30 hours or more per week (nights and weekends, in addition to on-call hours 1-2 nights per week, overnight). The position provides great flexibility and requires you to wear many hats including administrator, leader, event coordinator, role model, counselor, and policy enforcer (to name a few). This is a job where we truly ask you to bring your personality to the position.

    Most shifts occur during nights and weekends, but we can occasionally ask you to attend some trainings and / or activities during the day.

    While on duty, you will be performing administrative tasks, and be on-call in the residence. We also ask that you help plan and organize activities, do room checks, and attend bi-weekly staff meetings. Additional shifts may be requested to meet the demands of the school operations. We are looking for RAs that are not only friendly and personable while working at the reception desk, but can also build meaningful connections with the residents on their floor, even when off-duty!

    Previous Resident Advisor or Residential Life experience is a plus and/or an interest in education, counseling, and international relations.

    Resident Advisor Duties: All of our RAs are responsible for theday-to-daysupervision ofallstudentsliving in an EF residence.

    • Provide positive role modeling for residents in areas of communications, decision-making, and problem solving.
    • Responsible for assigned residents, including performing room checks and preparing and following up with weekly room check reports for the Housing and Maintenance teams
    • Working with fellow RA’s and Housing Team to create a Home Away from Home feeling.
    • Assist residents with any questions, complaints, or concerns and participate in a monthly activity with them.
    • Oversee student’s check-ins and check-outs during weekendshifts andhelp resolve any issues that may occur during night shifts.
    • Work as part of a team to ensure high student satisfaction among the student body.
    • Communicate in an effective manner with co-workers regarding daily residence life activities.
    • Assume a leadership role, particularly during crises, to calm students and provide effective solutions.
    • Report any inconsistencies, conflicts or problematic situations to the School Director, Housing Director or Residence Manager
    • Respond appropriately and effectively totasksassigned by the Residence Manager and/or Housing Director.
    • Ensure a safe environment for both residents and co-workers.
    • Responsible for assisting minors if they need to see a doctor.
    • Participate in meetings and training sessions, as scheduled.

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma.
    • English LanguageFluency.
    • A second language is a plus.
    • Availability to work (part-time) during the months of July and August.
    • Customer Service Experience, or Resident Advisor Experience.
    • Must possess PC skills including basic MS Office applications.
    • Innovative,organized,and attentiveto detail.
    • Must be able to enforce school policies.
    • Must be social, fun anda team player.
    • Must be a self-starter, motivated and pro-active.

    Earnings:

    • $16.85 per hour

    As an RA at the EF International School of English you receive a free shared twin room and board (breakfast and dinner). In addition to this, you will receive an hourly wage for all of your assigned shifts.
