We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join WBUR to play a meaningful role in ensuring that our sourcing and hiring practices are robust, that we promote a diverse and inclusive culture, and we build relationships with candidates and colleagues to provide the best possible brand experience for all staff.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Staffing Planning & Sourcing (network & pipeline building)
- Partner with colleagues to evolve talent acquisition strategy & establish cross organization/forward thinking staffing plans.
- Partner with key stakeholders to build and establish a sourcing function capable of sourcing and attracting strong and diverse talent and pipeline building.
- Be a key point of contact and advocate for external diversity partnerships and organizations.
- Execute high touch candidate sourcing campaigns to uncover and engage candidates.
- Establish long term relationships with candidates by developing and maintaining an effective pipeline and network of diverse talent.
- Closely partner with hiring managers to identify and engage candidates through innovative marketing minded outreach methods, leverage existing/new networks (professional organizations, academic institutions, affinity groups, etc.) including representation at various media conferences, and introducing advanced sourcing tools and search techniques.
- Engage leaders to develop a talent pool for critical/challenging to source roles and establishing an opportunistic hiring approach and process.
- Interviewing & Hiring (active recruitment)
- Manage recruitment efforts from beginning to end.
- Work in partnership with leaders and hiring managers to understand specific business and department needs.
- Reinforcing a diverse and inclusive culture, coach hiring managers on how to conduct an efficient and inclusive recruiting process, while providing the best possible brand experience to candidates (timeframes, diverse candidate slates, diverse interview panels, behavioral interviews, offer, feedback).
- Partner with hiring managers to support candidates throughout the hiring process market WBUR, answer questions, communicate status, communicate pay philosophy, deliver sophisticated offer packages to candidates, and liaise on offer negotiations.
- Collaborate closely with internal partners including talent acquisition/operations, compensation, immigration and legal.
- Maintaining Systems, Processes, and Evaluation
- Stay up to date with recruitment industry trends and best practices.
- Keep a current and exact applicant database through an applicant tracking system (Silkroad).
- Successfully manage a high-volume and complex workload in a fast-paced environment and to provide insightful analysis.
- Facilitate and lead meetings with key stakeholders that will continuously improve and scale our recruiting operations and results.
- Regularly manage pipeline activity and maintain data integrity, and proactively share data-centric updates with internal stakeholders.
- Leverage and maintain data reports to ensure performance metrics are met (diverse candidate slates, time to fill, etc.).
- Keep informed of sourcing standard methodologies and emerging tools/technologies to introduce and/or pilot when appropriate.
- Develop a robust diversity campus recruiting strategy to assist with hiring programs.
- Support internship program management as needed, including onboarding, events, and the end-of-summer conversion process.
- Participate in an manage special project related to networking, recruitment, and promotion of WBUR as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience required
- 10+ years of relevant full cycle recruiting experience with an organization recruiting team or search agency (preferably within journalism organizations), and 1+ year of experience in a sourcing as a part of full lifecycle recruiting or a formal sourcing function highly desirable.
- Proven success in identifying and attracting high-quality, experienced talent candidates across numerous markets and professional communities (news & radio desirable), while guiding the business partners and candidates through the selection process.
- A passion for sourcing and continual learning that translates to staying current on new trends and tips for sourcing.
- Consultative ability to leverage market data and industry research to advise stakeholders, peers, and improve delivery of talent.
- Experience with sourcing techniques including diversity recruiting, identifying passive talent, building talent pipelines, and referral generation.
- Experience with candidate negotiations and closing.
- Understanding of media industry highly desirable.
- Ensure ongoing integration of robust inclusive hiring practices.
- Leverage resources such as LinkedIn Recruiter, HireEZ, and recruiting platforms to identify, engage, and develop passive external candidates whose unique skills and qualities align them to current and future opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and take a candidate-centric approach.
- Self-starter who can operate effectively in a collaborative environment and navigate ambiguity independently and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency with web-based applicant tracking systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to effectively work with key stakeholders, networks/partners, and candidates.
- Deeply detail oriented and have an ability to maintain momentum in a dynamic business environment.
- Strong organizational skills (ability to prioritize, multi-task) and work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Success with data-driven recruitment efforts (strong problem-solving, data analytics and reporting skills).
- Capable of handling sensitive information ethically and professionally.
