Job Description
Success Academy’s mission is to reimagine public education. From the classroom to the halls of government, this means finding profoundly different approaches to how to deliver a high-quality education at scale. We re-conceive every aspect of school design, from writing rigorous new curricula to drawing regularly on the advances in technology and business that are transforming every sector except education.
This school year marks the 19th anniversary of Success Academies and the launch of our mission to drive public education as an excellent, efficient, and equitable pillar of American society. During this time, Success Academies has grown faster than any charter network in the nation, building a vibrant network of 55 elementary, middle, and high schools. Our 20,000 children - from underrepresented communities- are out-performing students at top city and suburban schools across New York State. Looking forward, our goals are even more ambitious: to grow to 100 schools and to educate 50,000 children across New York City in a uniquely holistic pre-K-12 system, bringing transformational change here and across the country through extraordinary school quality.
About this role:
Success Academy has recently established a talent capability within the People Department to leverage innovative approaches to all of our school-based talent management workflows. A key enabler in achieving SA’s ambitious goals is predictably attracting, developing, retaining, and advancing quality talent at scale across our school communities. We’re therefore seeking someone who’s passionate about talent development for our diverse school-based cohorts and who will support multiple enterprise-wide projects including emerging leader programs, onboarding and acculturation, and talent development processes.
In this role, you’ll make impact by:
Execution of efficient and centralized performance management processes across distributed talent cohorts (school leaders, teachers, and non-instructional staff) within deadlines.
Overseeing the Teacher Leader selection processes as part of our leadership pipeline and talent development strategy; sourcing and evaluating relevant performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of Teacher Leader programs; ensuring the positions are being leveraged strategically.
Administering the promotion process for multiple school-based leadership roles, including project planning, candidate communications, calendaring interviews, and evaluating processes for opportunities to improve quality, scalability, and sustainability.
Driving flawless execution of annual promotion and leader celebration events including managing communications, identifying appropriate venues, selecting catering providers, and managing audio/visual tools and other resources required for engaging experiences.
Administering annual recognition initiatives (eg - Excellence and Local Staff Awards), and staff incentives (eg - stipends, bonuses) that meaningfully increase staff retention and engagement.
Delivering a series of career advancement-focused sessions for school-based staff, to facilitate internal mobility and professional development opportunities. This also includes collecting and synthesizing feedback to assess the quality of career advancement initiatives and making recommendations for future process improvements.
Supporting Talent Management leadership and partnering with school managers and non-instructional leaders to deliver training programs for recently promoted school leadership and staff (such as principals, assistant principals, teacher leaders, and operations staff).
Supporting ad hoc projects across the broader People function as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required in business, strategy, psychology, organizational development, engineering, or a related field.
4+ years experience in a high-volume, process-heavy role, preferably related to strategy, education, or human capital.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity - you are solutions-oriented and proactive to problem solve
Strong organizational and event management skills, with the ability to take the initiative, proactively prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and project deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and verbal, across audiences and levels. You thrive on tailoring your messaging to specific audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with a broad base of constituents at all levels.
What we offer:
An engagement-focused and high performance-oriented culture
Continuous learning and development opportunities
A flexible hybrid work environment that allows you to work on-site and from home
Mission-driven work that changes the lives of kids across New York City
A robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance options; a 403(b) retirement plan with company matching
