  • Responsibilities

     

    The CSI Trade and Industry Department is seeking applicants for a full-time, 9-month Welding Instructor position for fall semester starting October, 2021. The successful candidate will instruct students in welding processes and metal fabrication. Work also includes planning, scheduling, student recruitment, and curriculum development. The position involves analyzing community and industry needs and developing positive relationships with industry partners. The instructor coordinates work with other instructional personnel including purchasing, enrollment management, and other activities. This is a full-time 9-month faculty position requiring qualification for an Idaho Professional-Technical Postsecondary teaching credential.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide training from beginning to advanced welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW-G and FCAW-S)
    • Provide training in the joining of mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel
    • Recruit and advise students
    • Maintain a training lab and activities that promote creative learning
    • Monitor student progress and retention
    • Develop an annual plan for personal development
    • Assist with annual plan for unit (program) development and budget
    • Implement course-level and program-level outcomes assessment strategies
    • Participate in advisory committee
    • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with local industry
    • Review internship, cooperative education, and other work-based learning sites
    • Encourage students to participate in student organizations and other extracurricular activities
    • Participate in campus committees, faculty senate, and department meetings and activities
    • Troubleshoot problems with lab equipment
    • Continuously review and update curriculum and instructional technology with department chair
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Experience in the welding field, including supervisory experience
    • Teacher credentialing requirements include a combination of work experience and education accumulating a minimum of 3 years recent, full-time employment/education
    • Degree in related field preferred, but not required
    • American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential and/or American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator (CWE) preferred, but not required (successful applicant must be willing and able to obtain CWI credential)

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    Must possess current Idaho driver’s license to travel to the CSI Jerome Center, professional development events, for recruitment purposes, for field trips, and to visit cooperative training sites. Successful applicant will work directly with 12-20 students in classroom, laboratory, and supervised work experience environments. Use of welding equipment and hand tools will be necessary and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) will be necessary at times.
