The athletic director supervised and instructs all sports activities and is responsible for camper safety and equipment safety.
They receive paid training during staff orientation and are supported by camp leadership (division heads, program director, social skills director and the camp director) as they help exceptional young men enjoy a tremendous camp experience while learning key social skills. We are an all-male camp with a coed staff.
In addition to scheduled evenings off, each general counselor has a 36 hour day off each week. General Counselors also go with their campers on weekly adventures out of camp, ranging from Hershey Park Amusement Park to the Baltimore Inner Harbor.
General Counselors live in dorms (private or shared with one other staff member) and work with the age group of young men to whom they have been assigned. Campwide, the staffing ratio is 2 adults for every 5 youth and this allows for a great deal of support and reinforcement at all levels.
Successful applicants have prior experience working with youth (formally or informally, are flexible, dynamic individuals who excel in a team environment).
Experience with exceptional populations preferred.

Camp Sequoia is an overnight summer camp for boys ages 7-17 to experience social skills success in a dynamic and nurturing environment. Served by a high energy co-ed staff, many of our campers are diagnosed with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Located on the beautiful campus of The Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania (1 hour northwest of Philadelphia) our innovative program integrates building Frustration Tolerance research as presented at the Global Gifted Conference by Camp Leadership with a innovative social skills development framework to help campers develop their social thinking skills through a FUN active, traditional camp program.
Camp Sequoia is designed for children and teenagers with ADHD and other similar diagnoses who do not need the level of support offered at special needs overnight camps yet need a different experience than a traditional overnight camp can offer. Our 2:5 staffing ratio allows our campers to have fun and grow in a safe and supportive camp experience.
