Shenandoah University is accepting applications for a Director of Counseling Services. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
The position provides individual and group counseling to Shenandoah University students, outreach and consultation services and treatment in the following areas: crisis intervention, brief therapy, mental health concerns, relational issues, sexual assault, and academic challenges. The Director of Counseling Services reports to the Executive Director of the Wilkins Wellness Center. The Director of Counseling Services will have direct oversight for implementing policies, procedures, and clinical delivery systems. The Director of Counseling Services serves as personnel manager for the counseling staff including: recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation and professional development. The Director of Counseling Services represents the department on campus committees.

Knowledge of principles of student development and psychological theories, and knowledge of clinical service delivery systems in college/university counseling centers; knowledge of professional ethical guidelines associated with counseling practice; knowledge of various laws (FERPA,HIPPA, etc.) that impact counseling services provision in the university counseling centers.
