    Required Qualifications : **** This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and six months of related work experience in entertainment or theater production. Candidate must be PC or MAC proficient with software application experience. Candidate must have experience as a theatrical carpenter and have the ability to read and interpret drafting and safely implement scenic designs. Theatrical rigging and welding experience are preferred.

    Working Hours : **** The working hours will be according to performance schedules and will require evening, weekend and holidays hours.


    Please note: **** This position is currently based at the New Journal Center. However, responsibilities of this position may require travel for temporary assignment to any of the Daytona State campuses.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for carpentry work, fly rail operation and problem solving associated with Daytona State College productions, News-Journal Center events, and outside rental bookings as needed.
    • Maintains scene shop, equipment and materials for meeting production and event requirements. Cleans and checks assigned equipment periodically to ensure optimal functioning. Creates and manages inventory protocols. Manage scene shop area while overseeing usage by internal staff, students, faculty and external clients.
    • Assist with load in, load out and run of scenery, lights, sound, etc. for events at the News-Journal Center.
    • Assist as needed with the facilitation or other technical requirements for performances or special events as needed.
    • Draft construction/set drawings as needed for both internal and external needs.
    • Interact and communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
    • Supervises and trains assigned student employees. Maintains safety protocols and teaches therein.
    • Other duties may be assigned as directed.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • General knowledge of theater operations; computer skills; ability to read drafting, construct and install set pieces without direct supervision.
    • Knowledge of theatrical carpentry techniques and protocols and possess strong carpentry skills.
    • Ability to lift heavy weights (20-50 lbs.); depth perception and ability to distinguish colors.
    • Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, stopping and climbing, exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures and heights.
