This is a year round, full-time, non-exempt position that begins on or around August 1, 2018 or until filled. This position is a key member of the Division of Contemporary Music staff and production team. The USC Thornton Division of Contemporary Music is comprised of six academic programs: Popular Music, Jazz, Music Production, Screen Scoring, Music Industry and Guitar. The Division is very active in presenting a wide range of concerts, showcases, rehearsals, classes and recording sessions in styles ranging from rock, R&B, EDM, pop, hip-hop, jazz and film music. Essential Functions: * Supervise, mentor and train student staff on audio, lighting and video equipment * Work collaboratively with the Production Manager and faculty to advance, set-up, operate, break-down all related equipment and systems for concerts, rehearsals or classes * Maintain, update and oversee all live venue technology including audio, lighting and video * Maintain, update and oversee recording studio and technology lab equipment including analog and digital consoles, outboard equipment, cue systems, microphones and all auxiliary equipment * When assigned, serve as FOH or Monitor engineer for concerts, rehearsals or classes * Effectively troubleshoot and quickly resolve technical issues in both live and recording environments * Manage inventory and maintenance of all audio related equipment * Maintain assigned budget for equipment procurement, maintenance and staffing * Advise on strategic upgrades, new technology and best practices The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills: * Experience supervising a staff, effective delegation skills and monitoring progress of work * Experience as FOH and Monitor engineer * Experience with recording studio technology including software (ProTools, Ableton, Waves Track Live, Ableton) and hardware * Basic lighting and video projection experience * Effective trouble shooting, problem solving and maintenance of equipment
