MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Excellent knowledge of digital functions and processes.
- Proficient in rotary web press operation
- Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations and read a ruler
- Ability to understand technical directions (i.e. press et up, web handling)
- Ability to follow instructions, demonstrations and practices
- Extremely detail oriented and organized
- Excellent team attitude with the skills necessary to communicate and comprehend.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to distinguish colors precisely
- Ability to achieve and maintain acceptable levels of safety, quality and production.
B. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of flexographic printing experience at Whitlam and satisfactory evaluations throughout the training process.
- Complete the Munsell Hue test with a score of 100 or lower
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To perform the necessary press operating functions required to achieve the highest levels of safety, quality, productivity, and consistency. Perform all duties and functional responsibilities.
A. DUTIES AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Press Operation:
- Confirm that all necessary components needed to run a job are present prior to starting.
- Set-up, run and tear down press in accordance to outlined procedures.
- Monitor and maintain conformance specification throughout press runs.
- Flag all non-conforming areas in converted rolls for removal in rewinding.
- Communicate necessary improvements for future runs via change request sheet (pink sheet).
- Complete paperwork associated with press operations accurately and efficiently (i.e. Die Card, Press Procedure Sheets, TMTS, Allocation Sheets, etc.)
- Consistently exhibit proper work habits established during initial training period.
- Properly train assigned staff on press.
- Maintenance:
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Perform scheduled operator maintenance duties
- Report additional maintenance required to Maintenance Supervisor or Operations Manager.
- Handle materials, tools and equipment with proper care and respect.
- Clean ink stations, presses and press parts as required.
- Communicate problems and discrepancies to Manager as necessary.
- Make sure dies are clean before returning them to their proper place.
- Pull and visually inspect the tooling for each job.
- Ensure that all accessories and equipment removed from the tool crib are returned in the proper condition.
- Return ink jugs in proper condition (i.e. cleanliness, the caps are on, etc.)
- Properly identify and place excess rolls of material to the “return skid”
- Place inventory tags from expended rolls in designated tag return bin.
- Place finished product onto cart and properly identify next location.
- Comply with and enforce all pertinent departmental and company policies, procedures and instructions.
- Perform any other duties as required.
