San Jose Country Club, located in Jacksonville, Florida is hiring for the position of Assistant Professional of Racquet Sports.
The Assistant Rackets Professional supports the Director & Head Tennis Pro in providing high-quality tennis instruction and fostering a vibrant tennis community within the club. This role involves teaching lessons, running clinics, assisting in tennis program management, and promoting player development for all ages and skill levels. The Assistant Pro helps organize events and tournaments, ensures proper court maintenance, and provides exceptional service to club members. The ideal candidate will have great passion and professionalism, for teaching and improving players of all ages and abilities. We are looking for experience in teaching Ladies & Men’s tennis teams, Junior Academy Players, Pickleball clinics, and help with social events.
Must be Pickleball & USPTA (RSPA), or PTR certified. The professional should have a 5.0 USTA Player Rating and/or D2 or higher College Level tennis playing experience. This professional can expect to teach 25-35 hours per week and must be available on the weekends.
The compensation package includes full-time status, base pay, lesson and stringing commission, medical/dental benefits, and 401k plan. Compensation is based on lesson and clinic income plus a base pay which includes pro shop and court maintenance hours as needed and helping with events.
Key Responsibilities:
o Conduct private and group lessons for players of all ages and skill levels.
o Assist the Director & Head Tennis Pro with clinics, camps, and events.
o Mentor and develop junior players, from beginners to advanced competitors.
o Offer guidance to adults in social and competitive play environments.
o Assist in organizing and running tournaments, social events, and club leagues.
o Collaborate with the Director & Head Pro to create new programs that engage members and increase participation.
o Participate in promotional efforts to grow tennis programs and recruit new members.
o Assist as needed with the daily maintenance of tennis courts.
o Set up courts for lessons, clinics, and events with appropriate equipment (e.g., balls, cones, ball machines).
o Build strong relationships with club members, maintaining a positive and welcoming attitude.
o Assist in the pro shop as needed.
o Address member questions, concerns, and feedback related to tennis programs.
o Promote the club’s tennis offerings and encourage member engagement through personalized outreach.
Qualifications:
Certification from a recognized tennis organization (e.g., RSPA, PTR) is preferred.
Pickleball certified
Proven experience in teaching and coaching tennis, with a strong understanding of tennis technique, strategy, and fitness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate players.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Passion for tennis and a commitment to helping players improve and enjoy the game.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
