This position is responsible for securing park property by staffing security access points and screening guests and associates for prohibited items and contraband; and preventing those items from entering the amusement park.

Preliminary Job Description:

• Uses hand held metal detection devices or walk-though devices to perform metal detection of guests and employees to help prevent prohibited items from entering the park.

• Inspects guests, their packages and belongings for contraband and prohibited items.

• Explains detection and inspection procedures and standards for prohibited items to guests and employees

• Monitors and controls guests entering and exiting the park via the main gate and other entrances.

• Provides guest service according to company standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

• Gives verbal directions and assists guests and employees, including lost and/or separated guests.

• Assists with crowd control duties as needed.

• Monitors, enforces, and reports violations of park rules, company policy and applicable local/state laws.

• Completes all necessary written statements or reports as directed to document incidents and investigations.

• Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with company guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.

• Other duties may be assigned.

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using direct conversation, a two-way radio and/or telephone.

• Ability to successfully complete required training.

• Ability to interact with guests and associates in a courteous and professional manner.

• Ability to remain calm with guests or employees in emotionally charged or crisis situations and help to de-escalate those situations.

• Ability to recognize when additional assistance or direction is required and to seek assistance or direction.

• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to Security policies and procedures.

• Ability to meets scheduling availability requirements, including working nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.

• Meet company attendance requirements as outlined in attendance policies.

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to follow written policies and procedures; complete a variety of basic forms; and interact with guests including understanding and responding to specific questions.

• Adheres to company Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
