INTERNING AT UNIQLO: Our in-store internship opportunity will provide students with challenging but rewarding work during their summer break. We are looking for interns who are eager to expand their careers in retail management roles. This is an opportunity for individuals looking to sharpen their leadership skills, build customer loyalty through excellent customer service, and help fulfill the companys corporate statement, Changing clothes. Changing conventional wisdom. Change the world. As part of the UNIQLO team, you will be responsible for assisting with total store operations and working on a project to impact your store location. Examples of projects that may be assigned include but are not limited to: creating recruitment and retention strategies or a localized marketing strategy for your store location. Projects assigned will vary based on business needs from location to location. Approximately 20% of your time each week will be dedicated to working on your assigned store project. Upon completion of the program, you will present your strategy and results to field retail leaders, as well as corporate team members at our Store Support Center. They will offer feedback and guidance during this presentation, as well as throughout the course of your internship. In addition to learning about store operations, increasing sales, and working on your project, you will have the opportunity to network and learn from the strongest leaders in the retail industry. Those who are successful throughout the course of their internship will be eligible to proceed to final round interviews for our UNIQLO Management Candidate Program during their senior year. WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON: You will be given a detailed training guide that covers what you will be learning during your internship. In a snap shot, interns will be focusing on the following objectives each week: * Week 1: New-hire orientation, customer service training, self-management, professional relationships, standards, and introduction to project. * Week 2: Self-development, policies and objectives, reporting, notifying, discussing, markdowns, and project. * Week 3: Layout changes, stock, displays, handling of information, transferring items, and project. * Week 4: Management and staff costs, sharing information on ways to maximize sales, educate staff about issues pertaining to policies, weekly Hanbai Keikaku, and project. * Week 5: Staff development, teach staff basics of layout, provides concrete feedback & ensure staff members handle inquiries correctly. * Week 6: Development of store environment and culture * Week 7: Management of staff costs, cost controls, sales floor leadership. * Week 8: Presentation of project, review, evaluation.
