    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support to engineering and certification staff in the areas of field labeling, certifications, and production control and monitoring.
    • Participate in technical committees and industry associations to keep up to date on regulations, and update clients and laboratories with the latest changes and information.
    • Support the Field Evaluation Sales Director for the Field Label Program through collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering.
    • Manage the national field label team of contractors and full-time field labeling staff.

    Specifically These Responsibilities Are To:

    • Qualify laboratory staff to perform field label projects.
    • Hire and qualify full-time/contract employees as the business needs arise
    • Train and develop overseas affiliates to perform design reviews
    • Oversight of the UL 508A panel shop program
    • Provide interpretation of standards, codes, and regulations to support technical alignment.
    • Create and deliver technical training to engineering staff.
    • Conduct and/or monitor field evaluations in accordance with SGS CRS US program requirements
    • Investigate supplier product quality issues and work directly with supply chain on appropriate improvement steps
    • Provide solutions for continuous improvement of the client’s product, process, and quality management system.
    • Assist in the preparation and presentation of customer proposals.
    • Conduct and/or review machinery risk assessments.
    • Issue reports and review/approve corrective actions, as needed.
    • Represent SGS at external technical committee and industry meetings,
    • Support Field Evaluation Sales Director with technical assistance for sales, marketing, and training for field label program. Speak at trade shows on technical topics and publish quarterly technical newsletter.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
    • Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
    • Execute all work with a professional manner aligned with the SGS Integrity Policy.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Profile of the position (Requirements & Qualifications):

    • 5 years experience in the manufacturing process/production of machinery.
    • 3 years experience in completing machinery risk assessments.
    • Experience with NFPA 79 and UL 508A for field labeling.
    • Knowledge of SPE1000
    • Knowledge of Field Evaluation Body (FEB) Requirements NFPA 790 and NFPA 791.
    • Experience with product safety standards, National Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code.
    • Knowledge of the industrial automation product range and applications.
    • Ability to work with a diverse range of products and applications.
    • Experience with quality management systems, quality assurance, auditing is a plus.
    • Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives is a plus.
    • 70% travel may be required.

    Education:

    • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or suitable work experience.
    • Technical degree or equivalent training and work experience.

    Skills/Competencies:

    • Must be motivated self starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to read/interpret technical documents and work instructions.
    • Ability to write routine reports.
    • Ability to speak effectively with clients.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook a must.
    • Detail oriented.
    • High level of integrity.
    • Strong inter-personal skills.
