About the Position: Serves as a senior Data Scientist within SEC. Responsible for planning, conducting, and presenting complex AI/ML projects in support of SEC, US Army Materiel Command (AMC), Army, and Depart of Defense (DoD) programs.

    Job Description

    • Conduct data science research to establish objectives and approach.
    • Isolate and define critical features of problems and formulate methodologies.
    • Develop AI roadmaps and strategic implementation plans to meet organizational short-term and long-term goals.
    • Analyze current trends in AI and technology to predict future developments.
    • Experiment with cutting-edge technologies to find innovative solutions.
    • Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders through briefings, demos, and white papers.
    • Design and implement AI solutions that are scalable and flexible to adapt to future changes and demands.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of large language models and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
    • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
    • Develop metrics and monitoring systems for AI performance in operational cloud and on-prem environments (e.g., Azure Government, OpenAI, Llama3).
    • Apply innovative data science and mathematical approaches to the analysis of materiel and/or logistics systems problems.
    • Perform studies of issues across the entire range of Army, DoD, and Federal programs.

Basic Requirement for Data Scientist: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. You must submit a copy of your transcript(s). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job which includes: 1) identifying the data-analytics problems and creative solutions that offer the greatest opportunities to the organization; 2) writing code in computer programming languages such as R, Python, and PostgreSQL Language to solve complex problems; 3) working with data in a cloud environment; and 4) leading a team of Data Scientist & engineers responsible for conducting investigative studies, performing research or developing recommendations and documentation of results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Data Analysis Data Management Data Systems and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11/NH-02).

    The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) is the Army’s materiel integrator for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) readiness.
