    The Senate Employment Office maintains a resume bank of individuals seeking Senate employment, and refers candidate resumes when Senate offices request them. Full-time, entry-level applicants may be interested in the following positions: Staff Assistant, Driver, Special Assistant, Press/Digital Assistant, or Legislative Correspondent.

  • Qualifications
    • Applicants should be available for full-time employment within approximately one month of their registration.

    • Most positions are located in Washington, DC. Relocation expenses will not be covered.

    • Requirements will vary by office and are at the discretion of the hiring manager.

  • Desired skills

    Ideal candidates have strong organizational, communication, and prioritization skills, are team players, demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, and maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced, constituent services-oriented environment. Prior Hill experience is a plus. Please see below for a sample list of responsibilities.

    Administrative positions: manage front office operations, answer a high volume of phone calls, process constituent correspondence, greet visitors, manage the internship program, handle flag requests, schedule DC tours, and complete other administrative tasks as needed.

    Communications positions: compile daily clips, build and maintain press lists, draft press releases and media advisories, help to implement the social media strategy, manage the website, track media hits, film and edit videos, create graphics, draft copy, and support research and writing projects.

    Legislative positions: process incoming mail, draft outgoing constituent response letters, assist senior policy staff with research and legislative or oversight projects, meet with constituents, attend hearings and briefings, and other responsibilities as assigned.
