    WHOLESALE BANKING provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally.  Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital.  We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

    OVERVIEW

    The Financial Analyst Program incorporates extensive training and coaching to help you build your analytical skills, master credit underwriting, and prepare you for a long term career at Wells Fargo.

    OUR LENDING BUSINESSES

    You may be placed in one of the Wholesale Banking lines of business/lending groups outlined below based on hiring need;

    • Commercial Banking: Delivers a comprehensive suite of products and industry expertise to serve the diverse financial needs of companies with annual sales typically ranging from $5 million to $2 billion. As a leader in serving commercial customers, Wells Fargo offers financial services including credit and treasury management solutions as well as specialized expertise across industries including Technology, Food, Beverage & Agribusiness, Investor Real Estate and Government.
    • Commercial Real Estate: Provides financing services to real estate owners, developers, investors, and real estate investment trusts (REITs), through all stages of their growth and development.
    • Commercial Capital: A market leader in providing working capital, sales financing, investment capital, trust services, strategic capital, and renewables project finance serving customers through six core businesses: Capital Finance, Commercial Distribution Finance, Equipment Finance, Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance, and Specialty Finance.
    • Wholesale Credit: Responsible for overseeing the credit, model, and reputational risks associated with each of the Wholesale Banking lines of businesses. The group has oversight for all Wholesale credit decisions and portfolios.

    YOUR ROLE

    You will work closely with your office’s relationship team and develop expertise in the companies and industries you serve. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Analyzing a company’s financial, operational, and management strengths and weaknesses to identify potential capital, balance sheet, and reputation risks 
    • Preparing comprehensive annual financial reviews for customers in your portfolio as well as periodic underwriting memorandums both of which highlight a company’s financial profile, key risk factors, sources of repayment, cash flow, and ability to service debt 
    • Monitoring of current events and financial information for your portfolio
    • Assembling a variety of financial schedules and financial models including projections in support of recommended credit actions
    • Proactively identifying credit issues or challenges early on in the underwriting process and recommending ways to further mitigate risk
    • Partnering with relationship teams to structure and propose new credit transactions as well as coordinate customer due diligence, documentation, and loan closing processes while including strategic product partners when appropriate
    • Reviewing loan agreements and other legal documents related to credit exposure
    • Performing site visits and participating in client meetings to better understand your client’s needs as well as gain experience interacting with  your customers’ key executivesand senior credit and sales managers at the bank

    • On-the-job experience: Working as part of a high-performing team in your business group is how you will gain in-depth experience as a financial analyst. You will begin to build your analytical skills and understanding of credit by actively participating in your team’s day-to-day activities.
    • Credit fundamentals and accounting/excel modeling training: You will attend four in-person courses during the Financial Analyst Program to advance both your credit underwriting proficiency and solidify your accounting knowledge and excel modeling skills.
    • Specialized training: Your line of business will offer specialized training to foster a deeper understanding of your business and, you’ll become familiar with financial, technical, and operational tools and processes to help you improve your credit underwriting/problem-solving skills.

    YOUR NEXT STEP

    Financial analysts who successfully complete the program are on their way to a long-term career. The program is ideal for preparing you for the following paths: 

    • Credit analyst: Evaluate clients and their businesses to determine the best financing structure for both the client and Wells Fargo. - Relationship Manager: Manage client relationships by working with a company's business principals to understand their short and long-term needs and to structure the financing and banking products that help them achieve their goals. - Portfolio Manager: Oversee the loan portfolio for an office or line of business.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 6 months of experience in one or a combination of the following: financial analysis, credit analysis, statistical analysis, or statement spreading; or BS/BA degree or higher granted prior to hire date

    OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proven Leadership, self - motivation and success through internships, part-time or full-time work, and/or extracurricular activities
    • Bachelor's Degree with an expected graduation date in December 2019 or May/June 2020
