  • Responsibilities

    Work flexibly and gain client exposure by supporting corporates, financial institutions, and the public sector to manage working capital, optimise returns on surplus funds, and enhance their treasury efficiency.

    For: Final year students or recent graduates

    Duration: 18-24 months

    Internship start date: July 2025 onwards

    Requirements:

    • Available to work full time from July 2025 onwards
    • You will graduate with an undergraduate or post graduate Degree in or before June 2025
    • Obtained, or expected to achieve, 3.2 Cumulative GPA or overseas equivalent
    • Fluent in English
    • Legally permitted to work in the USA - will not require Visa Sponsorship in the US now or in te future including OPT and F-1 visa

    Over the course of two years, you’ll get to:

    • Rotate between four core teams:
      • Sales, where you’ll help provide advice and solutions to meet clients’ treasury and working capital needs.
      • Product Management, where you’ll work with a team to innovate, develop and enhance our product offering.
      • Client Management, where you’ll help to deliver cash management solutions and support clients’ daily needs.
      • Business Management and Chief Control Office, where you’ll help to ensure we deliver our strategy, while managing risk and governance.
    • Help clients make payments efficiently across markets in different currencies, navigate local regulations, and support them as they transform and digitise their operations.
    • Develop your expertise in product development, client engagement, business and risk management, supporting strategic initiatives as part of a larger workstream.
    • Spend time with other Global Payment Services teams, globally and domestically and gain exposure to different clients, ranging from small local businesses to large corporations, banks, and even governments.

    To join us on this programme, you’ll need to be:

    • Keen to learn about optimising returns for clients and how banks support customers in their treasury and working capital management.
    • Interested in the evolving trends in transaction banking and curious about innovation in financial technology.
    • A proactive self-starter, keen to learn and take advantage of opportunities to do so.
    • A team player with a collaborative attitude who builds trusted relationships and is driven by results.
    • Familiar with PowerPoint, able to use Excel to manage and analyse data, and eager to improve your skills in these and other software and systems.

    What you will learn

    We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like relationship management and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.

    During your time on the programme, you’ll:

    • Be introduced banking, followed by sessions to help you understand the fundamentals of corporate treasury, working capital management and cash management.
    • Receive training on soft skills such as communication, networking, time management and personal branding.
    • Learn about Transaction Banking and the regulatory frameworks around it, as well as HSBC’s product suites (for Liquidity and Investments, Payments, and Cards) and client-centric approach.
    • See how technology is transforming treasury management through AI, Distributed Ledger Technology, API, Cloud Services, and Robotic Process Automation.
    • Be able to earn qualifications through the Association of Corporate Treasurers, such as the Certificate in International Cash Management.
    • Have plenty of other opportunities to develop your skills, and people to support you along the way, ensuring that you’re well prepared for the future.

    The products you’ll learn about are:

    Liquidity and Investments products – these enable clients to optimise balance sheets, maximise returns and streamline treasury processes. Some examples are Demand and Term Deposits, Notional Pooling and Cash Concentration, Liquidity Management Dashboard, and Cashflow Forecasting.

    Payments – these enable the collection and disbursement of funds for clients, domestically and across borders, and provide other value-adding services like Real-Time Payments, Virtual Accounts and Omni Channel collections.

    Cards – these enhance the visibility and control of client’s expenditures, such as with Business and Purchasing Cards.
