    Experience : 0 Description : The Internal Audit Group (IAG) is a worldwide function with 150 team members and offices in 7 countries. We are comprised of assurance and risk professionals with diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer, compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting and banking operations. The IAG organization consists of numerous audit teams aligned with the business units and staff groups along with a professional practice and quality assurance team and a reporting and regulator relations team. All teams report into the General Auditor who reports directly to the American Express Company Audit and Compliance Committee, Risk Committee, and administratively to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In this role the IAG Global Risk and U.S. Banking - Staff Auditor will focus on support in execution of multiple simultaneous Risk Management and U.S. Banking audits by assessing and documenting the design and operating effectiveness of controls related to risk and capital management throughout the organization. Additional responsibilities Include: * Continuous monitoring of the AXP and its subsidiary banks as it relates to Credit Risk Management and Capital Risk Management. * Active industry research of regulatory and industry developments/practices as it relates to balance sheet and capital management. * Assist with validation of remediation activities and projects in place to address regulatory gaps. This will involve reviewing applicable regulatory requirements, assessing/ confirming compliance gaps, and evaluating management's remediation activities to confirm that the regulatory requirements are effectively addressed. * Quickly develop a strong understanding of AXP's business model, including products, services, and organizational units. * Identify and calibrate the primary sources of risk, and assist the Audit Manager in performing effective audit tests to assess the control environment. * Further develop and manage the current business monitoring capabilities and program for IAG - Global Risk and U.S. Banking portfolio. * Ensure effective and efficient execution of audits in conformance with professional and department standards, budgets, and timelines. * Enable effective assessment of controls, and delivery of high-quality audit findings. * 0 -3 years experience in the financial services industry within a risk management function and/or internal audit function * Understanding of regulatory and financial industry guidance and best practices relevant to the business, including technology implications * Knowledge and experience in control theory and professional auditing practices * Understanding of business technologies and its impact to control practices * Effectively integrates business, operational, technological, and financial components in audit work * Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions to complex control, financial, or technical issues * Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver high quality, actionable feedback on a variety of complex issues to executive and line management on control issues and potential solutions to close control gaps * Effectively works independently and within a team construct, while supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives * Ability to travel if needed * Bachelors degree required, advanced degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or related field preferred * Professional Certification (CFA, FRM, CIA) preferred or ability to obtain within 1-yearEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
