    ROLE:

    This position maintains a high degree of responsibility and serves a critical role in ensuring TD Ameritrade's ongoing compliance with highly scrutinized and visible rules and regulations. This position is responsible for the analysis of account activity to ensure compliance with the USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and OFAC requirements. The primary functions of this position are to thoroughly investigate account activity for suspicious behavior, prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filings in a timely manner, and provide guidance to business partners on high risk accounts and transactions. Essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

    • Research, analyze and investigate customer account behavior for potential Anti-Money Laundering (AML)-related suspicious activity. Determine if a SAR should be filed with Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). File SARs within regulatory timeframes and in accordance with BSA/AML Compliance Operations policies and procedures.
    • Maintain an understanding of AML regulations; current money laundering schemes; and investigative techniques required to detect such schemes.
    • Recognize and escalate high risk suspicious activity to AML Management for possible law enforcement and/or regulatory referrals.
    • Research and respond to regulatory agencies, including law enforcement agencies, in view of applicable AML, FINRA, SEC and Federal rules and regulations.
    • Achieve and sustain a high level of quality, accuracy and efficiency in the firm's response to AML and OFAC matters.
    • Provide guidance to business partners in matters of AML Compliance.

    Primary areas of responsibility require a moderate knowledge of the securities industry, clearing functions, extensive knowledge of TD Ameritrade's systems and internal policies and procedures. Superior client focus and risk management skills are required. The AML Analyst II will report to the AML Investigations Manager.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • AML Case Investigation
    • Gather data/information necessary to determine if activity is suspicious
    • Analyze data gathered and make a SAR/No SAR decision
    • Recommend No Further Business (NFB)
    • Prepare and submit SAR filings
    • Write narratives
    • Update fields in case management system to correspond with the activity being filed on
    • File SARs
    • Provide timely AML and OFAC guidance to business partners and training of new associates
    • AML Workflows
    • Review new referrals at the time they are submitted
    • Assist in training opportunities as needed
    • Review, research, and complete account base screenings (OFAC/FinCEN)
    • Utilize third party service providers and internal systems to perform searches on subjects being investigated
    • Add NFB client to internal list which is housed in a third party service provider
    • Review, research, document and respond to external information requests (Law Enforcement/314b)
    • Exchange of information pursuant to the 314(b) provision of the USA PATRIOT Act
  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must have demonstrated experience and be comfortable making critical decisions in a time sensitive environment
    • Two or more years' experience working with money laundering/terrorist financing/SAR or equivalent investigations preferred
    • Must have demonstrated experience in applying judgment and analysis to detect and deter money laundering activities
    • Ability to work independently, but cohesively within a team of specialized associates
    • Highly self-motivated
    • Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data
    • Exceptional analytical skills, judgment and attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
    • Must be able to keep abreast of and understand industry rules and regulations
    • Adept at analyzing and communicating market information
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, database management programs and Internet browser based applications
    • Proficiency in third party vendor systems
    • Series 7 and CAMS certification preferred
    • 4 Year College Degree
