The Associate will work in the New York Debt Capital Markets team for the Bank’s North America region. The new hire will assist the team with daily responsibilities, including preparing analyses and pitches for client meetings, executing Debt transactions, and identifying funding opportunities across markets and currencies for different companies/sectors. Primary responsibilities include assisting senior team members in the coverage of their client base, engaging clients on current topics, pitch preparation and data management. Will interact as required with DCM professionals globally.
The Debt Capital Markets group markets, structures and executes fixed income related transactions on behalf of issuers. The group works closely with Banking, leveraged finance, and Derivatives teams to recommend and execute transactions for the Bank’s clients across the credit spectrum.
The employee will be responsible for the following tasks:
Provide direct support to senior level professionals who focus on debt origination, structuring and execution across all industries and currencies. Supporting the maintenance of client relationships with the goal to win primary DCM business
Generate and maintain client pitch presentations, and assist with thematic projects or initiatives relevant to clients, including but not limited to, preparation of refinancing analyses for clients that consider currency, tenor, size, taxes, accounting implications
On a daily basis, follow the US market closely (across the major asset classes) with the goal to prepare and distribute macroeconomic, debt primary and secondary market commentary to clients and relevant internal stakeholders
Stay abreast of current market conditions, and identify opportunities for unique analysis or client value-add intelligence
Prepare multi-currency bond pricing spreadsheets and updates to be distributed to clients, demonstrating the ability to compare borrowers and assess appropriate new issue pricing in conjunction with debt syndicate
You will be exposed and support all aspects of live bond deal execution, including origination, documentation, marketing materials (deal and non-deal related), execution and distribution across currencies. Assist in preparation of post-deal marketing material - including deal reviews
Understand and articulate the varying documentation requirements across currencies and issuance structures
Track, compile and coordinate new USD investment grade issuance information, provide analysis on interesting themes / trends
Provide ad hoc reports for management on transaction details and involvement
Strong partnership roles skills as the role requires working in conjunction with internal and external partners - DCM, Debt Syndicate, Leveraged Finance, Liability Management, ESG, Legal, as well as the Corporate, Financial and country specific coverage teams.
Identify opportunities to enhance internal cooperation and maximize client cross-sell
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $150,000 and $200,000.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements
Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Previous investment banking or capital markets experience (3-4 years), and good understanding of financial markets
Enthusiastic with an eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge, absorb and digest market intelligence on a daily basis
Communication skills - Strong communication skills needed. Communicates what is relevant and important in a clear and concise manner, shares information and new ideas with others
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a deadline driven and fast-paced environment.
Ability to follow up independently and play the role of project manager - managing several projects at once and work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team
Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and reliably
Teamwork and Collaboration- Gives evidence of being a strong team player, collaborates with others within and across teams, encourages other team members to participate and contribute and acknowledges others’ contributions
Excellent writing skills with the ability to present ideas and concepts in a creative way, focused on framing the best possible strategy for the client
Strong quantitative skills and an understanding of fixed income products
Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Bloomberg skills would be viewed positively
FINRA series 63, 79 and 7 licenses are required. Manager can allow a contingency period to obtain licenses at their discretion.
