    DESCRIPTION

    Wholesale Credit & Lending (WCL) is an important contributor to the Group: it supports 80% of the revenues generated by Wholesale banking and forms a key part of the Group-wide transformation. In 2020 we announced the formation of a WCL Transformation & Delivery organization, bringing together credit and lending-related transformation programmes across Commercial Banking, Global Banking, Risk Transformation and Digital Business Services. WCL Transformation & Delivery is responsible for delivering high priority programmes to simplify, digitise at scale and automate the credit and lending journey, as well as supporting the creation of a new, globally consistent credit and lending organisation serving both GB and CMB business lines which collectively build towards our vision of becoming a leader in digitally enabled domestic and cross border lending across network, by improving customer experience generating competitive advantage through use of data and participation in emerging borrowing models

    The Business Analyst will work with colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams to produce and own business user requirements, functional specifications and business cases, validate and prioritise project requirements.

    The role will entail:

    • Project management of a portfolio of loan related projects
    • Documentation of business requirements
    • Documentation of the Loan IQ set up requirements
    • Business analysis and preparation of project documentation, including business case and project artefacts
    • Development and delivery of project plans
    • Supporting the Loan IQ operations teams in Hong Kong, KL and Kolkata
    • Liaison with FO Business, Finance and IT teams

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Leading activity to identify, review and analyse business processes and systems to understand design implications across Business, IT and Operations
    • Leading the design and reengineering of processes, where process is one of the many parts of the change, and provide detailed guidance on process design (considering risk, end-to-end and cost)
    • Overall support to impact assessment for change requests on design, scope, time, budget or effort on programme plan and provide accurate estimates for handling new requirements, design changes and scope
    • Managing implementation of solutions
    • Development of control structures and performance scorecards (KPIs) to ensure project milestones, budgets, resources and employee engagement aspirations are met, implementing mitigating actions as appropriate
    • Management of external service providers
    • Work with markets/regions to understand regulatory, customer and competitive landscape

    IMPACT ON BUSINESS

    Identify and document all non IT requirements including:

    • Documentation impacts/changes
    • Communication plan
    • Data integrity/clean up
    • Migration steps and processes
    • Scope, define and assist execution of test scripts/testing
    • General co-ordination of efforts across Operations teams and Loan IQ IT

    ROLE DIMENSIONS

    • The jobholder will report to the WCL Loan Product Manager

    CUSTOMERS / STAKEHOLDERS PRIMARY CUSTOMERS ARE:

    The Business Analyst will lead, contribute, challenge and advise effectively on areas within their scope, including internal committees / forums and support the provision of transparent and insightful feedback on status. They will communicate with clarity, impact and passion to inspire audiences and create a shared understanding and commitment. Other stakeholders on projects will include (as demanded by specific project need):

    • Other Transformation functions
    • Regulatory authorities
    • Other service delivery functions
    • Data service providers
    • Software, data and service vendors

    • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

    OBSERVATION OF INTERNAL CONTROLS

    • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
    • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Qualifications

    Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

    • Possess excellent Business Analyst skills
    • Strong analytical background with a high degree of attention to detail
    • Background working in cross-functional teams to drive requirements capture
    • Experience in business and process analysis, change initiatives & re-engineering
    • Experience in planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
    • Agile expertise - takes ownership of building agile capabilities in teams ensuring the right process are in place for agile requirement capture
    • Leading and empowering cross-functional teams

    SPECIFIC

    • Strong understanding and experience in the Loan market with in depth knowledge of the bilateral and syndicate agreements.
    • Strong working knowledge of Loan IQ and loan market business processes
    • Must be able to evidence experience in multiple sectors, including as a minimum General Corporates, Structured/Leveraged Finance, and Financial Institutions, in order to lead project design workshops linked to workstream initiatives.
    • Knowledge of both Banking and Markets core products including loans, RCF, transmission/settlement facilities, derivative hedging products and treasure management solutions.
    • Knowledge of both internally and externally produced bank documentation, term sheets and must be able to demonstrate previous experience in documentation negotiation or approval.
    • High level of awareness of policy & governance, including concentration risk management, risk of loss client management and capital/pricing frameworks.
    • Awareness and understanding of bank regulatory reform programmes, including Basel III, CRD and preferably sector specific reform programmes such as EMIR and Solvency II.
