We are looking for Waterway Apprentices to join our unique Apprenticeship scheme. Here you will develop your skills and knowledge set whilst gaining valuable experience on the job, and earn while you learn. Upon completion of your apprenticeship you will be considered for any progression job vacancies to continue your career with the Canal & River Trust. We offer high quality Apprenticeship training - As a Trust apprentice, you will complete your apprenticeship training with both on and off-the-job training, with regular attendance (block release) at college (Approx. 1 WEEK BLOCKS EVERY 6 WEEKS). All uniform, workwear, travel and accommodation and education costs are paid for by us. What apprenticeship will I be doing? Conservation apprenticeship level to be confirmed. We regularly arrange placements for you to build your portfolio, as well as opportunities to work on projects. No two days are the same! These activities to improve our waterways ensure that our customer always have a positive experience. encourage people to enjoy our canal network and surrounding environments; providing excellent customer service through operation of the Trust's assets (locks, bridges, etc) & promoting the Trust. Always conducting yourself in a professional manner develop skills to support protecting and maintaining the environment, delivering practical tasks across various sites and environments and developing community engagement skills. support the team to deliver and coordinate our volunteer activity program within the waterway you are based. You will recognise the opportunity to engage and build positive relationships with those who want to connect with the Trust and support different volunteer groups to achieve the our aims. become an ambassador for the Canal and River Trust learning key communication skills gaining confidence to share our ambitions with the wider public promote a safe and inviting customer experience on the waterways support the Canal & River Trusts aims to improve safety and increase the number of people using the waterways whilst protecting the heritage and environment of our canals, rivers and docks you will be working outside year-round for a large proportion of this role, so you must love to work outdoors, whatever the weather. Your Qualifications - In order to ensure that we recruit the right candidates for these roles, you should be interested and committed to a career in construction or customer service or have an interest in heritage/conservation (desirable) and may have had some experience or exposure to occupations such as plastering, bricklaying or craft masonry before, but this is not essential. If you have not already achieved your Maths and English skills you can complete these alongside your apprenticeship.
