FIELD DEFINITION DIA intelligence mission managers engage in management,
coordination, synchronization and integration of Intelligence Community
(IC)-wide intelligence requirements, resources, and activities. They
strategically manage the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE) by
developing, interpreting, applying, implementing, and evaluating
national, Department of Defense (DoD), and IC policies, strategies, and
doctrines to enable effective synchronization and execution of plans and
activities across the DIE, and between the DIE and the IC and foreign
partners. They integrate the intelligence cycle by fulfilling customer
requirements using strategies, joint operational planning, the joint
targeting process, national disclosure policies, and collection
management tools and techniques, while evaluating performance and
managing risk, in order to optimize capabilities to achieve unity of
effort. They manage intelligence capabilities by advocating for the
optimal global apportionment and allocation of intelligence resources to
support mission readiness, evaluating the sufficiency of intelligence
functional capabilities against requirements, and planning and
coordinating the innovative development of intelligence architectures,
tools, and methods to support performance in all phases of the

current students the opportunity to gain practical work experience
through research, report writing, briefing development and delivery,
policy writing, and intelligence analysis. Interns are also exposed to
the broader Intelligence Community through field trips, information
sessions, and panel discussions. Interns are appointed for a 10-12-week
period from June through August. This Vacancy Announcement will be used
to identify candidates to support the Mission Management Career Field
only during Summer 2019. Separate vacancy announcements are posted for
other Career Fields that are available for Summer 2019 internship
opportunities. WHO CAN APPLY This announcement is for external
applicants (non-DIA employees) only. Military and contractor personnel

selected for interviews will be invited to attend the DIA
Invitation-Only Hiring Event that will take place in June 2018 in
Maryland. DIA officials will be on location to interview applicants who
possess the required and relevant Career Field skills and background for

Applicants must meet the agencys conditions of employment, to include,
but not limited to, satisfactory completion of an initial special
background investigation and periodic reinvestigation, completion of any
required medical examination and physical requirements, completion of

drug test, and completion of a civilian mobility agreement no later than
May 20, 2019. Interns will be considered for full-time permanent
employment at the conclusion of the internship. However, permanent

Selected candidates must be willing to relocate in support of mission
requirements. Since this is a temporary appointment, interns will not

FEDERAL EMPLOYEES This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence
Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10
U.S.C. 1601. Selectee(s) who are current Federal employees will be
appointed to the new position at the grade in which they qualify for.
Those at a higher grade than the advertised position, will be asked to
accept a voluntary change to the lower grade if selected. All current
and prior Federal employees must also submit a copy of their SF-50,
Notification of Personnel Action that documents their appointment to or
promotion to the highest grade held. Consideration for future
advancement opportunities will be through DIAs established promotion
processes, according to established timeframes, advancement criteria and
compensation parameters. POSITION SUMMARY The Mission Management Career
Field represents DIAs ability to synchronize and assess the entire
intelligence cycle. Officers in this career field are the critical link
in the combatant commands (CCMDs) between warfighters, planners and
defense intelligence analysts. As trusted advisors to senior government
officials and flag officers, they coordinate and integrate diverse
intelligence operations from the tactical-theater level to the
national-strategic level across the following career specialties:
collection management, information sharing, intelligence operations
management, joint capability development and intelligence support to
acquisition, joint intelligence planning, joint target intelligence, and
policy and strategy. Career Specialties in this field consist of the
following: Collection Management: Defeat foreign denial and deception!
Collection Management officers optimize collection resources by building
relationships to understand customer intelligence needs and gaps,
researching existing requirements, and then developing or updating and
plans to task Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
resources. DIA offers Collection Managers an accredited certification
program. Information Sharing: Represent DIA to allies and foreign
partners! Information Sharing officers plan and coordinate foreign
military intelligence cooperation and engagements. They manage
international intelligence arrangements and execute intelligence sharing
conferences and relationship development activities with partner
nations. They also provide foreign disclosure support for sharing of
intelligence with foreign partners. DIA offers Information Sharing
employees an accredited certification program. Intelligence Operations
Management: Drive daily intelligence operations! Intelligence Operations
Management officers manage joint multi-discipline intelligence
requirements, resources and operations throughout the intelligence cycle
to support the joint warfighter and national policy makers. Joint
Capability Development and Intelligence Support to Acquisition: Define
the future intelligence architecture! Officers in the Joint Capability
Development/Intelligence Support to Acquisition specialty advocate for
future Department of Defense Intelligence, Surveillance and
Reconnaissance (ISR) capability requirements through the Joint
Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS). Joint
Intelligence Planning: Mastermind intelligence plans for warfighters!
Joint Intelligence Planning officers orchestrate the Intelligence
Planning process at commands and organizations. They integrate all
available intelligence capabilities and resources in support of the
Department of Defenses military planning process, and assess risks to
intelligence support. DIA offers Joint Intelligence Planners an
accredited certification program. Policy and Strategy: Be a strategic
change agent! Policy and Strategy officers advise organization leaders
on national, Department of Defense, Director of National Intelligence,
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and combatant command policies and
strategies. They also develop and advise on Department of Defense and
agency long-range institutional plans to enable the agency to achieve
its goals. Joint Target Intelligence: Strike a blow for freedom! Joint
Target Intelligence (JTI) officers establish policy governing JTI
intelligence standards and procedures. They advise joint force targeting
and fires operations to determine appropriate guidance and targeting
priorities. They develop targets and engagement strategies and assess
the results of the engagements. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS This program is
open only to current students enrolled in full-time undergraduate and
graduate degree-seeking programs at accredited institutions with a
graduation date on/after May 2019 in the following academic disciplines:
Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations,
Intelligence Studies, Government, Foreign Language, Business, Finance,
Acquisition, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Homeland
Security, or a major closely related to any of these. Military academy
and Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets, active/reserve/National Guard
military personnel, Wounded Warriors, and other veterans with documented
intelligence experience or training in any of the mission management
specialties are especially encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants must
meet the following requirements: Possess a minimum cumulative grade
point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application,
and employment. Undergraduate students must complete 60 semester hours
or its equivalent at the time of employment. Graduate on/after May 2019.

will not be extended until all conditions of employment have been

investigation, counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination,
