    Early Internship Program Specialize - Diversity Summit for Developing Leaders - Summer 2022

    The Early Internship Specialized Summer is an immersive skill-building program that will allow you, a student early in your college journey, to develop leadership skills and gain experience in a business area that will prepare you for future opportunities at Capital One. This unique 10-week internship will focus on hands-on project experience within one of Capital One’s lines of business supported by skill building sessions, networking, and mentorship.

    As a participant in the EIP Specialized Summer you will: 

    • Complete a multi-week specialized business analytics project that includes framing a problem and providing solutions to leaders
    • Leverage new technology to understand how business decisions impact our bottom line
    • Be an active and engaged member of a team of analysts
    • Learn hands-on technical and professional development skills through guest lectures, workshops, and real world business problems
    • Foster valuable relationships with senior leaders, managers, associates, interns and other participants in the program (including 1-on-1 mentorship)
    • Gain access to Capital One Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Business Resource Groups (BRGs), which provide resources for professional development, connections, cultural celebrations and community engagement

    What interns may do in this role:

    Hands-on experience

    _Example: Interns may assist project managers with team-related projects and meetings while actively researching the best way to market credit cards to college students and share it with their managers and business leaders for feedback. _

    • Be an active and engaged member of a team working on a business analytics project
    • Deliver project-related communications and status updates
    • Collaborate with team members and business partners
    • Communicate interests and developmental goals with a support network for exposure to new opportunities

     

    What interns may learn in this role:

    Professional Development Skills & Capital One Competencies

    _Example: Interns may work alongside their project team to conduct research, gather data, and create a story deck to effectively communicate their findings to the intern class, program team, managers and leaders for feedback. _

    • Through project work and instruction, develop communication skills to craft an effective story incorporating data to influence stakeholders
    • Build presentations for a variety of audiences including senior leaders
    • Develop leadership and teamwork skills in small group exercises

    Analytical skills & Capital One tools

    Example:  Interns may leverage data mining, data aggregation tools, and customer listening to identify features that should be included in Capital One apps. In standing meetings, they'll share and validate insights with their team and manager. Interns will be expected to take input and feedback from the meetings to improve their analysis of business problems.

    • Develop advanced analytical skills and tools through instruction and project work
    • Apply acquired skills to solve business problems 
    • Gain proficiency in the Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, etc…) 
    • Generate and share data-based business insights with different audiences

    This is a paid internship. 

    Upon successful completion of the Early Internship Specialized Summer, interns may be eligible for other career opportunities at Capital One.

  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree or higher obtained between December 2023 and August 2024
    • 2021 or 2022 participant in the Diversity Summit for Developing Leaders OR 2021 EIP Explore Summer participant
