Job Summary The Bankruptcy Servicing Specialist will be responsible for the bankruptcy component in the Loss Mitigation Department, and will ensure that the necessary steps are being followed to properly gain back any losses associated with bankruptcy filings. This position will be responsible for handling all bankruptcy filings from inception to discharge or dismissal, following federal, state and district guidelines as well as noting accounts with updated information. This role requires independent judgment and typically has limited supervision. Knowledge of all areas in Collections & Loss Mitigation is generally expected. Essential Functions * Reviews and monitors active Chapter 13 cases for potential future payments and reduction of balance. Reviews and monitors active and non-active Chapter 7 cases to negotiate with customers attorney via phone, mails reaffirmation agreements and modifications, and provides recommendation for the recovery of vehicles after dismissal of cases. Negotiates value to adequately protect Exeters interest in collateral. * Reviews e-mails sent by the Bankruptcy Court dealing with new filings, motions by customers attorneys, and motions set forth by the courts. Prepares proof of claims, and motions for relief, if accounts become delinquent. Monitors and follow-ups on plan confirmation, dismissal of bankruptcy and discharge of debt. * Processes all bankruptcy accounts in accordance with policies, procedures and processes, which includes processing payments and loan modification paperwork when plan treatment is verified. Codes bankruptcy accounts appropriately within computer system. * Handles incoming calls. * Ships documents to customers, attorneys, or vendors via FedEx. Documents and scans newly created files being submitted to the courts. * Tracks all bankruptcy cases, and generates related reports. * Ensures compliance with Exeters policies & procedures, and state/federal laws, regulations and standards. * Ships documents to customers, attorneys, or vendors via FedEx. College degree preferred. * 2 - 3 years of progressively responsible experience in collections, with exposure to bankruptcy accounts. * Previous automobile bankruptcy experience preferred. * 2 years of administrative support experience preferred.
