  • Responsibilities

    The Client Service Representative (CSR) provides daily oversight and coordination of all aspects of custody operations at Northern Trust. This individual serves as a central point of contact for our investment manager community regarding operational inquiries, facilitating communication and simplifying information flow between various partner groups.

    Areas of support include: Trade Settlement, Client Administration, Performance Analysis, Securities Lending, Capital Structures, Client Reporting, Transitions, Pricing, Income Collections and Foreign Exchange.

    In this fast paced environment, it is critical for the CSR to possess the necessary time-management and analytical skills to successfully navigate the organization as well as utilize a multitude of tools to resolve significant time sensitive issues. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to perform in a multi-task environment.

    The key responsibilities of the role include:

    • Act as the primary contact for North America based investment management firms with the flexibility and commitment needed to meet their expectations.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with assigned investment managers/clients and internal Northern Trust partners to better understand the needs of the investment manager/client and articulate those needs in order to collaborate on process improvements or other service enhancements.
    • Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of all systems/applications required to effectively service investment managers/clients, and internal Northern Trust partners.
    • Be aware of changing market conditions and procedures as advised by Northern Trust management.
    • Be cognizant of regulatory requirements and take steps to ensure adherence (with guidance from Northern Trust management).
    • Coordinate daily with investment managers/clients regarding account activities and collaborates on any exceptions and proposed steps for resolutions.
    • Expected to use some initiative but refer more complex problems to supervisors/experts.
    • Works effectively as a team member but also independently.

  • Qualifications

    The successful candidate will benefit from having:

    • A College or University degree in Finance and/or some relevant work experience is preferred.
    • Related Industry qualification/or studying towards, is preferred
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
    • Basic securities industry knowledge is preferred
    • Analytical and problem solving skills are required
    • Organizational skills are required to manage conflicting priorities and multi-task functions in a fast- paced team environment
    • This role is targeted to start in June/July 2019
