GBFBs mission is to End Hunger Here in eastern Massachusetts, and our strategic objective is to provide at least ONE MEAL A DAY to everyone in need in eastern Massachusetts. GBFB is looking for an internship to join our Community Engagement Team this summer. The internship supports the development of The Greater Boston Food Bank as a Center of Excellence for Family Volunteer Engagement. In this capacity, the Intern will lay the groundwork for the model program including but not limited to: establishing a Families for Impact Financial Model; developing a Teens for Impact Program; Establishing a Champions for Impact Volunteer Program; Developing a Fellows Model for undergraduate/graduate students and exploring funding options for the program as well as potential families for engagement. The intern will work with team members in Development, Major Gifts, and Corporate - Community Engagement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Researching Models for Centers of Excellence in Family Volunteer Engagement or comparable areas Researching and developing a Teens For Impact Program to support the organization work to Hunger-Free 2028 Developing a model program for Champions for Impact Volunteer program that identifies and engages individuals who have more capacity to support our Volunteer Engagement Program; Designing recruitment and training materials as well as a plan for marketing and communications Developing a multi-level Fellows program for undergraduate and graduate students interested in the subjects of hunger and food insecurity through the lens of civic engagement. Building a data-base of Families for Impact exploring current donors and building a pipeline of new donors. Researching funding sources for Center of Excellence for Family Volunteer Engagement as well as programs of the Center, i.e. Teen Leadership Development, Civic Engagement, etc. Building more capacity in Families for Impact Volunteer Engagement events scheduled for October and December, 2018 Working with donor services team to understand how to leverage Raisers Edge as a tracking module Experience and Skills: Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with multiple team members across the organization and take direction. Detail orientation with ability to maintain confidentiality related to all functions. Comfort interacting with donors in person, on the telephone and via email. Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or a Graduate Degree Interest and commitment to GBFB's mission to End Hunger Here. Interest in non-profit sector and how the sector can be leveraged to support business development Ability to work on a Saturday Work Environment/Physical Demands: Ability to meet physical requirements related to agency distribution or event execution as needed. This may include setting up tables and chairs, moving things, lifting boxes of cans that weigh 25 pounds, loading and unloading cars, etc. Ability to sit up to 3 hours at a time Ability to work within in an open air/cubicle environment
