Principal Technologist- Global Applications Bridgewater/en-US/IngredionCareers/job/Bridgewater/Principal-Technologist--Global-Applications_Req-08312/apply Job Title: Principal Food Technologist Global Applications Position Location: Bridgewater, NJ Reports To: Senior Associate, Savory Applications Team Leader, Global Applications Ingredion is hiring a Principal Food Technologist in our Global Applications team to lead and support the development, testing & commercialization of products relevant to novel nature-based ingredients for food applications. You will design and conduct experiments, overcome formulation challenges, and develop new, innovative ideas to expand our business in Clean & Simple ingredients. In addition, you will develop a fundamental understanding of structure-functionality relationships for ingredients within given food systems. Your responsibilities will also include: * Providing technical leadership and driving a range of Applied Research and New Product Development projects and prioritizing efforts to deliver on most important and commercially significant projects * Understanding the function of our ingredients (starch, flour, protein, hydrocolloids and other emerging clean label ingredients) and how they interact with common ingredients in a variety of food applications including savory applications * Developing prototypes utilizing new ingredients and identifying practical solutions to overcome challenges in clean label formulations * Rationally and rigorously designing and conducting experiments to evaluate potential applications of new and emerging ingredients. Interpreting data to establish understanding of structural-functional relationships of ingredients and their application performance * Preparing and delivering high quality internal and external presentations, training documentations, and technical documentation to demonstrate and communicate implication of technical findings for business * Working collaboratively with Analytical Science, Material Science, Process Innovation, Process Development, Cereal & Protein Science, Sensory, Marketing and Technical Service teams. * Developing and leading collaboration with external partners and strategic alliances to fast track new ingredient development. * Keeping appropriate records to support internal clients and external customers and intellectual property (IP) strategy. * Staying abreast of clean label technology environment (industry information, market trends, IP landscape). Conducting prior art searches (literature, patents) and developing and applying for patents. * Seeking and pursuing IP opportunities to protect Ingredions stake in new and promising ingredients and applications. * Developing relationships and networks with professional organizations (IFT, AOCS, etc) and other authorities in specific science and technology areas of interest. The position is well suited for you if you: * Demonstrate a high degree of energy, personal dedication ownership, and intellectual curiosity and are willing to continuously learn. * Have an entrepreneurial mind-set with a passion for crafting new solutions for the food industry. * Are passionate about ingredient innovation and product development and in achieving business and team goals * Adapt appropriately to shifting priorities and can work collaboratively with peers and others Qualified candidates will have: * MS/BS in Food Science or other relevant field with 3 to 5+ years of work experience in product development, emulsion system, ingredient development. * Experience with experimental design, interpretation of results and fundamental statistical analysis required. * Hands-on product development experience using laboratory equipment, pilot plant equipment, plant equipment and scale-up. * Knowledge on preservatives, emulsifiers, starches, hydrocolloids/ proteins/gums is preferred. * Experience with savory applications is a plus but not required * Excellent planning and organizing skills. * Demonstrated skills in people and project management is highly preferred * Effective verbal and written technical communication skills e.g. making high impact presentations internally and to customers and writing technical reports.
