    Job Purpose

    The Office of the General Counsel "OGC" at Jackson, in addition to other responsibilities, provides legal, regulatory, and compliance advice to Jackson, as well as its affiliate companies.Topical areas within the OGC include insurance law, corporate compliance & ethics, market conduct & compliance, product development and filings, regulatory initiatives, customer complaints & investigations and general corporate matters.

    The Legal & Compliance Intern is presented with legal and compliance projects throughout the summer that will provide useful experiences and personal and professional development.

    We are looking for an Intern with the aptitude to learn quickly and add value to the OGC.

    Essential Responsibilities

    The Intern may be assigned to do work related to any of the OGC practice areas listed above, such as:

    • Legal research projects
    • Regulatory compliance projects
    • Research related to departmental initiatives
    • General administrative tasks related to the functions of a corporate legal department
    • Understanding and recommending enhancements to Legal department processes and procedures
    • Familiarizing themselves with the insurance and securities industries

    Other Duties

    • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
    • Ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively.
    • Excellent research, writing and interpersonal/communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work in a fast-paced environment.

    Qualifications

    • First or second year law school student required.
    • Summer internship (Onsite).
