BACKGROUND
This role provides and exciting opportunity for senior leadership, building out new Front Office capabilities and enhancing governance over Price Risk controls and monitoring. The scope of the role extends across ICG Markets globally with particular focus on enhancements to processes, controls, and governance of Valuation Risk. The role will involve senior level engagement with the business, Technology, Finance, Risk and internal auditors.
Markets Risk and Controls establishes and maintains a robust 1st Line of Defense (1LoD) control environment to manage risks within risk appetite. Trading Risk & Control (TRC) within Markets Risk and Controls sets the standards for Front Office management of Price Risk and drives implementation of those standards.
TRC provides governance of Price Risk, including horizontal oversight of the inherent and residual risks across ICG Markets for this risk type. To manage residual risk within appetite, the team defines and drives the implementation of standardized Price Risk controls and monitoring capabilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role is responsible for governance and monitoring of key front office controls over market data inputs used for the valuation of financial instruments. Responsibilities include driving tactical as well as longer term target state enhancements to the control environment for market data. This requires business analysis as well as managing projects to deliver automated controls and monitoring. The scope of responsibilities extends across Markets businesses with particular focus on ensuring consistent application of standards, identifying issues, and evaluating residual risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor valuation risk controls of market data usage, analyzing control metrics and investigating operating effectiveness
Business analysis and management of projects to deliver control enhancements and automated capabilities
Design and implement enhancements to the governance and monitoring of market data controls
Facilitate and implement enhancements to the documentation of the control environment for market data
Provide centralized support to Trading, Business Managers and Sales on valuation related policies and requirements
Challenge current practices which are not fully aligned with the firm's standards, identify necessary corrective actions and facilitate resolution of identified inconsistencies
Drive standardized and consistent mechanisms to evidence controls and supervision, and ensure alignment with longer term infrastructure initiatives
Assess internal / external events, perform lessons learned analysis and implement enhancements as needed
Support regulatory and Internal Audit engagements and remediation, ensuring timely response and delivery
QUALIFICATIONS
Robust understanding of typical data structures for market data utilized by derivative models
Significant experience with designing and monitoring key controls over valuations in a trading environment
Experience dealing with regulators, Audit, Compliance and other risk and control functions
Strong controls mindset, identifying and mitigating risks, communicating and escalating concerns
Effective people, project and change management skills
Ability to identify areas subject to heightened control risk and to design efficient approaches to mitigate the risk on a sustainable basis
Experience with generating creative solutions, differentiating and prioritizing realistic enhancements and driving change-related projects
Strong communication skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders, adjust communication style for the target audience and to facilitate and lead governance forums
Ability to assess and critically challenge information and processes, delivering appropriate outcomes
Competence leading in dynamic, challenging environments while providing creative solutions
Ability to collaborate across businesses, regions and support functions
