  • Responsibilities

    Provides quality patient care according to established standards of nursing practice and Rimrock’s policies.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    1. Completes nursing assessments and formulates nursing care plans.
    2. Oversight of LPN assessments.
    3. Charts the progress note on patients’ complaints, nursing observations and condition changes, including incident reports and behavior forms.
    4. Administers medications as ordered.
    5. Makes frequent rounds for purposes of observing, assessing and meeting patient needs and conditions in the Medical Unit.
    6. Reports to the Manager of Nursing, any pertinent nursing or medical information regarding patient.
    7. Reports the condition and status of all patients to the on-coming nurse.
    8. Counts controlled drugs at the beginning and end of shift.
    9. Participates in continuing education and in-service education programs for the improvement of patient care and own professional growth and development.
    10. Conducts nursing assessments on all new patients and charts in Electronic Health Record.
    11. Administers TB tests, CIWA scales and BAL’s to all applicable patients.

    Required Skills

    Knowledge and understanding of current nursing theory and practice and ability to perform accordingly under the supervision of the Manager of Nursing and/or Medical Director; understanding of Rimrock’s policies related to patient care; knowledge of limitations in nursing practice and ability to request assistance of supervisor when needed; ability to establish appropriate rapport with chemically dependent patients; understanding of chemical dependency therapy process and ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.  Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software including Word, Excel and Outlook.

    Required Experience

    Currently licensed as RN in the State of Montana.  Current CPR training and First Aid.
