The Regulatory Operations Specialist role is responsible for all aspects of the specific unit including servicing, problem resolution, quality, and risk management. Works with key stakeholders across all lines of businesses to ensure activities of the unit are carried out in compliance with all operational regulations and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining exceptional customer service standards, and other duties as assigned.
This position provides regulatory and operational oversight in a variety of complex functions within a Banking Operations environment. The functions could include annual report and remittance processing to internal and external regulatory bodies, complex banking and treasury-related duties, interfacing with Legal, Compliance, Corporate Tax, General Counsel, Risk, Audit, State Representatives, external regulatory and government bodies and multiple business units across the enterprise, maintenance of vendor relationships, technical and project support including Chief Control Office duties (CCO), and in-depth business analysis.
The Regulatory Operations Officer is responsible for maintaining the operational and regulatory integrity of these functions, while working in a fast-paced and strategic environment, meeting Performance Level and Service Level Agreements, ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines, adherence to applicable laws and regulations including Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, State regulations and laws, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg CC and others. This includes the development, documentation, and on-going maintenance of departmental procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
Provide internal and external customer / business unit support, and customer contact including investigation into sensitive material. This may require proficiency in dealing with difficult or adversarial contact situations.
As a Regulatory Operations Officer you are responsible for ensuring that project requests are initiated, sponsored, and worked as required. You will participate as a member of project teams when initiatives impact processes or systems, including preparation of Initial Requests and Business Requirement Documents, and participating in User Acceptance Testing.
Responsible for recognizing risks, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and working with management to implement best practice strategies. There is a requirement for conducting research to resolve issues and implement sustainable solutions. This requires taking ownership of assigned tasks, exhibiting strong decision-making skills, and exercising sound judgment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting related field or equivalent. Proven ability to respond to changing circumstances.
Skills desired: Strong knowledge of assigned businesses, products, operations, systems, and full understanding of all applicable industry standards
5+ years of experience in financial services or equivalent, Escheatment rules and regulation knowledge a plus
Strong communications (verbal & written), analytical & project management skills.
