    Job Description

The Product and Payment Services Risk (PPSR) organization at Visa oversees Visa’s strategic pillars and underlying business units. For Visa’s Value Added Services (VAS) pillar, this includes Issuing Solutions, Acceptance Solutions, Risk and Identity Solutions, Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA), and the VAS Chief Operating Office (COO). PPSR is focused on overseeing product builds, pipeline and portfolio execution and tackling risks inherent in each area.

The Risk Business Partner (RBP), VAS, is responsible for managing and continually improving risk management capabilities across VCA (including the recently launched Intelligence and Data Solutions business unit) and the VAS COO, including driving cross-VAS operational excellence. The second line role will work with stakeholders across the business as first line of defence to mature risk management capabilities.

The role will have significant impact and senior leadership exposure with the successful candidate responsible for embedding risk management within the 1st line of their covered areas. The role will ensure identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks related to products, services and operations in line with Visa’s risk frameworks and appetite, while driving the strengthening of key controls across multiple teams. The role will be at the forefront of Visa’s innovation practices, ensuring operational excellence is deployed across key processes and controls.

As such, the successful individual must be able to effectively aggregate and communicate risks to Visa’s Senior Management and influence stakeholders to take appropriate action. This will include providing oversight and constructive challenge to both the VCA and VAS COO business units as well as cross functional stakeholders (e.g. Client Services, Finance, Legal and Technology) in their management of risk, while making recommendations on control enhancements or other actions required to drive risk mitigation and reduce exposure. The individual will be regarded as a trusted business partner that can consult executive management to make key risk decisions, leveraging the expertise across business teams, other second line risk management teams and cross functional subject matter experts. The candidate is to be viewed by the organization as knowledgeable, capable, competent, and an agent for change.

This role requires practical & strategic understanding of the payments industry, business environment and demonstrated experience assessing risks associated with business imperatives, strategies and operational processes. This individual must work collaboratively with cross functional and geographically diverse teams to execute against a common goal of protecting the enterprise.

    Candidate will be responsible for:

    • Ensuring alignment of Visa’s risk appetite with VCA’s and the VAS COO’s strategic objectives by supporting the identification of risks & mitigation activity, providing effective oversight to and partnering with the first line business functions to ensure appropriate mitigation is applied to reduce risk exposure to within tolerance and in adherence to Visa’s risk appetite.

    • Partner with the VAS COO and other VAS business units to drive operational excellence and enhanced risk management within VAS wide-processes and operations.

    • Develop and maintain partnerships with the business and cross functional partners to educate and embed Lifecycle Risk Management Practices and infuse Risk Management culture into the organization and day to day business operations, including developing, maintaining and continually maturing the capabilities of a network of Risk Champions within the 1st line of defence.

    • Lead efforts in supporting the execution of strategically important change initiatives, driving, enabling, and continuously improving resiliency and controls effectiveness.

    • Driving compliance with key risk programs, including:

      • Product Risk Reviews (PRR) and embedding risk management within the VCA product and services lifecycle, partnering with initiative owners to instill cycle time discipline and rigor within the process and subject matter experts to ensure risks are appropriately identified and mitigated.
      • Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA)) to drive operational excellence and management of risk within key processes across the VCA and VAS COO organizations.
      • Partnering with other second line programs and teams (e.g. Model Risk Management, Third Party Lifecycle Management, Regional Risk, Data Governance & AI, Compliance etc.) to support roll out and implementation of appropriate risk management activities.
      • Partnering with the VAS COO to ensure risk management practices are fully considered within the broader VAS business, including processes such as Product Lifecycle Management, Pricing & Deal Management, Commercialization and Sales Activation and Commercial and Sales Operations.
    • Monitoring the effectiveness of risk management to ensure mitigating measures are effective in protecting the business and the wider Visa enterprise (e.g., overseeing risk registers, driving the development of measurement systems such KRIs, ensuring risk events are appropriately remediated to prevent re-occurrence, driving control testing etc.).

    • Providing an aggregated view of the VCA and VAS COO Risk Profiles through developing a bottoms up (e.g., key NBIAs, operational risk themes, KRIs, risk events, control testing) and top down (key risks from senior leadership) view on risks to feed quarterly Risk Profiles and leadership discussions for the business units and VAS.

    • Supporting and where necessary, driving updates to regulators and other external parties on risk management activities for the business, including supporting VCA and the VAS COO during Internal Audit and any Regulatory engagements.
