    DESCRIPTION

    The Exotics Derivatives trading team, focused on risk, pricing and hedging within the US, is looking for a volatility trader with a Single Stocks background. The Single Stocks desk covers all non-vanilla options and structures on all the US underliers (including single stocks and ETFs). The candidate will be part of a top-tier trading team and immediately involved in all aspects of maintaining and expanding the franchise from pricing, risk management and technology initiatives.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Manage risk, pricing and hedging of a variety of single stocks derivatives products for the desk
    • Coordinate internally with other desks and externally with inter-dealer brokers in order to seek and analyze trade opportunities to optimize hedging and increase efficiency
    • Ensure trading activity is conducted within all appropriate risk parameters.
    • Assess market environment, generate trade idea and axes to maximize client revenues, and develop trading capacities
    • Build a high quality relationship with Sales, provide aggressive pricing to assist in the growth of our client franchise
    • Drive the global consistency of practices and processes, by the identification of deviations and escalation of anomalies.
    • Proactively help identify process inefficiencies and lead improvement initiatives
    • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Tax and other support functions to ensure the product operates in regulatory compliant manner.

    IMPACT ON THE BUSINESS

    • The Single Stock Exotics Trader in New York is a member of the Exotics Derivatives trading desk and is responsible to drive the PnL of the book in line with existing regulatory requirements and seeking opportunities to optimise processes.

    CUSTOMERS / STAKEHOLDERS

    • This position has strong interaction with various sales and trading groups throughout the securities division. As Trader of the product you will give the firm's customers the ability to trade and invest via equity derivative products. You will be responsible for managing risk, pricing and hedging for the desk, and for providing market access to sector/thematic exposure to single stock and ETFs through derivative instruments.

    LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK

    • The Single Stock Exotics Trader in New York is a member of the Global Structured Equity Derivatives team, and as such must actively collaborate with all team members locally and globally, and demonstrate team spirit.

    MANAGEMENT OF RISK

    • Display an understanding of and adherence to internal controls, as well as relevant regulatory guidelines and controls, and promote the awareness of the same.
    • Maintain awareness of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations, minimizing operational losses due to trading actions.
    • Ensure compliance with operational risk controls in accordance with internal and/or regulatory standards and policies

    QUALIFICATIONS: Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions The candidate must demonstrate:

    • 5+ years of Equity Derivative trading experience, preferably within a large financial institution
    • Trading experience within non-linear products (volatility and variance swaps), listed options, stocks; demonstrated ability to understand and manage risk factors on these types of products.
    • In depth knowledge of all aspects of the Equity Derivatives: Pricing, trade booking processes, risk management, inventory management and compliance.
    • Solid foundation of understanding the Macroeconomic environment with a focus towards US market and the events surrounding it (such as US-China tensions).
    • Ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Able to understand and manage complex and diverse instruments.
    • Entrepreneurial attitude to manage and contribute to new ventures/initiatives/technology solutions
    • Good reputation, hard worker, team player, ability to act fast under pressure
    • Master level degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or equivalent work-related experience.
    • Securities licenses including Series 7, 63, 55 or 57.
    • Programming skills are a plus: Excel, VBA, Python
