    Job Description

    Within Technology, the Operations & Infrastructure division provides outstanding infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and continuously available. We architect, build, and maintain secure and reliable systems and networks to support the business functionality that Visa provides to payment industry partners.

    As Site Reliability Engineers on the Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) Tech team, we’re passionate about providing an excellent developer experience that improves the efficiency and productivity of our engineers. We build and run tools and systems that Visa's engineers use every day to iterate, test, and deploy their code.

    We are looking for an individual who can appreciate and understand software at a multidisciplinary level and can use this knowledge to help craft our technical direction, from distributed computing, large-scale system design, artificial intelligence, UI design and mobile, and more.

    Some job duties and projects could include:

    • Perform daily code deployment to the Production environment
    • Act as the initial technical escalation point for tier 1 application issues
    • Perform routine application maintenance including host file updates, log rotation, and shell scripting for common tasks
    • Work on project plans and tasks to meet objectives and timelines
    • Analyze business requirements and architect a solution that is robust and scalable along with providing clear technical documentation and presenting findings via informative presentations
    • Maintain and update 3rd party applications (Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Tomcat, WAS, IIS)
    • Monitor application performance (e.g. memory, logging, latency)
    • Implement and maintain Performance monitoring dashboards using industry standard tools (Splunk, Thousand Eyes, Graphite etc.)
    • Code release into CAS (test) and PROD working with Product Development using industry standard tools
    • Support application deployment for new and existing services or features working with diverse groups like Product Development and Engineering
    • Support Customer Support on merchant-raised issues specific to applications. (e.g., increase latency, anomalous application behavior etc.)

    Basic Qualifications

    • Less than 2 years relevant work experience with either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating January 2024 - August 2025

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in at least one programming language including, but not limited to, Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, and C++
    • Experience with one or more scripting languages: Unix Shell, Perl, Python, or PowerShell knowledge
    • Solid understanding of Linux/Windows systems, and database and network concepts
    • Knowledge around fundamental container concepts
    • Familiarity with fundamental SQL queries and procedures
    • Solid understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies
    • Availability to support weekend on-call on a rotational schedule
    • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment
    • The ability to tackle challenges and address problems head-on
    • Strong ability to collaborate
    • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
    • Good teammate and excellent interpersonal skills

    Additional Information

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $88,000 which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

    Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

    Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

    Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
