    Job Description

    Summit is seeking this type of person to join our Master Data Management Team. Members will be responsible for maintaining, editing, sourcing, developing, curating, cleansing, and enhancing product, supplier, and customer master data. Accuracy, consistency, and integrity across our various systems, applications and departments is critical. Members will ensure that Summit’s data effectively communicates required information to relevant internal and/or external audience(s). This team will establish and maintain strong data management and governance processes/procedures while building a superior experience for our customers and associates.

    The ideal person is passionate about data. They understand how great data can support and fuel Summit’s success. They have a strong background in data management and content creation. They have a solid understanding of electrical products, suppliers, and customers. Based on individual background and experience, a Master Data Manager might work across all three domains (product, supplier, customer) or specialize within a specific subset(s).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accuracy, completeness, and attention to detail is Job #1
    • Focus on improving the customer and associate data experience
    • Utilization of tools and technology to improve speed, efficiency, accuracy and consistency
    • Product and supplier creation and maintenance in SAP
    • Product and supplier augmentation in Stibo STEP
    • Customer augmentation in SAP and associated systems
    • Internal and external content sourcing from suppliers and 3rd party data services
    • Optimize data for utilization across various platforms, including Web and ERP
    • Optimize for performance in search
    • Cross functional collaboration including Sales, Marketing, Category Management, Procurement, Cost, Pricing, Credit, IT, and other internal teams
    • Coordinate with suppliers’ data teams
    • Manage relationships with 3rd party data services
    • Utilize 3rd party services to clean and/or augment existing information
    • Define data standards, conventions, and formats
    • Establish and maintain data governance policies, procedures and checks to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency of data meets predefined quality standards
    • Monitor internal and external feedback, adjusting content accordingly
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and guidelines
    • Ensure compliance with supplier regulations and guidelines (IMAP, franchise/authorizations, etc)
    • Analytics and performance monitoring
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • 5+ years of electrical distribution experience, preferably with some sales experience
    • Solid understanding of electrical products, customers, and suppliers
    • Background in data management and data governance
    • Highly detailed oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Able to analyze a situation/system and recommend efficiency/productivity improvements
    • Proficiency in gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing data
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • Experience working with large database

    Beneficial Skills:

    • Previous experience with SAP ERP is preferred
    • Previous experience with Stibo STEP or a similar PIM application is preferred
    • Completion of Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of the EPEC series and other relevant industry training is a plus
