  • Responsibilities

    The Technical Writer focuses on planning, developing, drafting and editing technical documentation such as user instruction manuals and supporting documents to communicate complex technical information internally and externally. Produces electronic and hard-copy documentation, maintaining copywriting standards to conform with firm and quality assurance standards.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Determine the type of publication to serve project requirements best.
    • Meet with Directors, Programmers and users to learn about specific uses cases of technology.
    • Assess the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended, adjust tone/terms used to ensure understanding.
    • Create diagrams, charts and other visual aids to assist users in understanding technology.
    • Gather feedback from relevant individuals to improve technical documents.
    • Conduct research to understand technology and its business applications fully.
    • Write and edit technical documents, including Planning Documentation, Architecture and design documentation, Technical Documentation & Specifications, Process/Procedural Documentation, System Documentation, and User Documentation, including reference/product manuals.

    Minimum salary: $100,000

    Maximum salary: $150,000

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Producing high-quality technical & process documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
    • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical aspects and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
    • Validating your instructions with hands on use of software tools and systems.
    • Verify the accuracy and completeness of new and existing documentation.
    • Excellent written skills in English.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Basic familiarity with SDLC and software development.
    • Experience interpreting engineering documents.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • Minimum required: 3+ years experience.

    • Minimum required: none

    SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
