  • Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review and understand Revocable Trust, Power of Attorney, and deceased account documents to ensure collection of complete and accurate information, as needed.
    • Perform timely and accurate processing of deceased member accounts, including but not limited to: thorough account review, account coding, records research, blocking cards, updating member memos, updating account access, and creation of deceased member account resolution forms.
    • Process and track all incoming credit life and disability claims and cancellations through CUNA Mutual. Send out initial claim notification to member and provide support to members in the filing of claims, and follow up with members on all incomplete claims.
    • Provides support to member services and other departments in regards to questions related to Trust, Power of Attorney inquiries, deceased accounts, and all other matters of the department. Work directly with members and other departments, as required.
    • Participate in all required training and adhere to written policies and procedures of the credit union.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

     

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Comprehensive understanding of deceased account administration, Payable on Death and Revocable Trust accounts, as well as the associated rules and regulations. Knowledge of consumer loan underwriting is a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret governing instruments including but not limited to Trust Agreements, Wills, Death Certificates, Probate documents, etc.
    • Open to learning new processes and methods and takes the initiative to apply them to the job.
    • Stay current on and in compliance with all Credit Union policies, and state and federal regulations.
    • Provide first contact-resolution, anticipate all needs of the requestor.
    • Work independently to meet assigned deadlines with little supervision.
    • Work well with other employees, be professional and exercise proper confidentiality with member and other employee’s information.
    • Assist in obtaining the department and organization goals. 
    • Continuously seek out educational opportunities for personal and professional growth.
    • Offer suggestions to improve the Credit Union’s products and services and general processes to improve efficiency and quality. 
    • Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.
    • Handle difficult situations or problems in an efficient, confidential and tactful manner.
    • Maintain confidentiality of members, co-workers and Credit Union records.

     

    Required Experience

    EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s Degree or recent work experience preferred.
    • The position requires 1-3 years’ experience in credit union operations and member services.
    • Effective analytical, problem solving, organization and planning skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of deposit and loan products & services.
    • Knowledge of software/computer systems required to complete job duties – Fiserv DNA, Nautilus, Word, Excel etc.
    • Competence with use of the Internet and Credit Union Intranet.
    • Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks at one time.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation.  Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table.  Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs.  Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
