Role Description

• Supports the Global Index Group’s portfolio management with research and development related to data quality and automation of index calculations.
• Researches data sources, discovers and documents their strengths and weaknesses.
• Develops data quality tests and corrections.
• Learns and documents index operations.
• Develops and tests codes to automate index calculations.
• Develops an understanding of the financial markets including trading, benchmarking, indexes, derivatives, data vendors, and content providers.
• Interprets financial data from a variety of databases.

Example Project (subject to change)

• The intern will work with index R&D and index management teams to document index procedures.
• The intern will develop algorithms to detect and correct data quality problems.
• The intern will write and test codes that queries data and makes calculations to automate index operations.

Preferred Skills/Languages

• Preferably has Math, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or other quantitative background.
• Experience in using R, SQL, Python, or other programming languages, preferred.
